The narcissistic, feckless, escapist culture of an America absent without leave in the world was fomented from the top.

Triple, that is the same sentence I highlighted as I read this remarkable article by Sullivan. Says a lot in such few words, doesn't it?

Torie, thanks for the flag. This is one of the best written and thorough pieces I've read hinting at an explanation of how the September 11 tragedy could have occurred under our very noses. Allowing Bin Laden to expand his network basically unchecked even after his acts of barbaric terrorism is a stain on Clinton a thousand times worse than the one he left on Monica's dress.

Question for President Bush:

WHY is George Tenet still Director of the CIA?

America burned while Bubba facialed a White House sink...

Hey Brian, how about losing the arrogant rhetoric. The man did the only thing he can do, serve notice to all nations involved with terrorists they will have a price to pay. How would you have handled it? What measures he has'nt taken are you in favor of? I dont deny more aggressive stances would send a stronger message, but in a society infected with Politically correct liberal ideaology the man needs to take it slow and careful. If he goes too far over the Liberal lines too fast, he runs the risk of loosing support of the blind among us. Overwelming public support has enabled his actions thus far, if that crumbles the flawed ideaological mindset which facilitated this situation wins out indefinately.

Through the dust clouds of September 11, and during the difficult task ahead, one person hovers over the wreckage - and that is Bill Clinton. His legacy gets darker with each passing day.

This is framable...

When a senior Clinton official can say of his own leader that he "spent less concentrated attention on national defence than any other president in recent memory", and when this administration is followed by the most grievous breach of domestic security in American history, it is not unreasonable to demand some accounting.

What he said.

Clintoons "legacy" is spread over much of lower Manhattan.

I know I should be more careful with the verb “blow” when discussing the Klingons, but it BLOWS ME AWAY that former first b**ch, Hitlery, has the balls (which I suspect she DOES!) to say ANYTHING during this time inasmuch it was her fellow criminal, Bill, who laid the groundwork for this outrage.

Did you happen to catch CNN’s Judy Woodruff interview withTom Clancy on the evening of 9/11?

Tom brought up the subject of the CLINTON decimation of US HUMAN INTELLIGENCE capabilities – that going all the way back to Sun Tsu, SPIES are a necessary part of the information gathering process. He mentioned that if we’d had a few spies and spooks out there in this increasingly dangerous world, we MIGHT have gotten one of them close to the perpetrator and been able to interdict the MURDER of perhaps 15,000 Americans in the incredible tragedy we witnessed this morning.

I think it’s safe to say that Clancy knows a bit about the subjects on which he writes.

Tom then tagged CNN by name as one of the news agencies which greeted Clinton’s decimation of the intelligence community with approval, continuing to say that they COULD have spoken out TO OPPOSE HIM but failed to do so. Tom’s rather clear implication was that CNN played a role in today’s catastrophe.

Judy VISIBLY RECOILED – and quickly concluded the interview after babbling something about journalists never taking positions on such matters. Her expression made it clear that she was NOT happy with Tom.

Clancy was RIGHT ON THE MARK and until we DO beef up those assets, it’s gonna happen again – and probably sooner than later.

And do you suppose there is some sinister significance to the fact that this happened on 9-11 (911!)? Are these people THAT sick? Don’t bother responding as that was a rhetorical question.

Let’s all pray – and shed a tear or two -- for the lost firefighters, police officers, innocent citizens and their families. Until this is behind us, we must put aside as many of our partisan differences as our principles will allow.

And we must also pray that our precious Constitution does not become one of the first victims of this SICKENING and senseless act.

THE HORROR! THE H O R R O R!!!!!!!!!! CNN’s anorexia poster girl Judy Woodruff interviewed withTom Clancy on the evening of 9/11?

[Clinton] was sleazy and unprincipled, we surmised, but he was also competent, he led an economic recovery, and he conducted a foreign policy of multilateral distinction.

But the further we get away from the Clinton years, the more damning they seem. The narcissistic, feckless, escapist culture of an America absent without leave in the world was fomented from the top. The boom at the end of the decade turned out to include a dangerous bubble that the administration did little to prevent.

The "peace-making" in the Middle East and Ireland merely intensified the conflicts. The sex and money scandals were not just debilitating in themselves - they meant that even the minimal attention that the Clinton presidency paid to strategic military and intelligence work was skimped on.

All the more disgusting that Xlinton was angling for a Nobel Peace Prize.

We don't know for a fact Mark Bingham joined the Flight 93 group. He didn't tell his mother of plans. He may have been the man making the phone call from the restroom.

When they are FINALLY confronted with this they will say that the VRWC was so busy poking at them, they were too distracted by defending themselves from baseless attacks to take care of business.

This will end up being our fault.

I am glad Mr Bush is our president.

Given that the alternative was the lying, thieving, RICO-mobster, co-serial-rapist, for-a-time world's-most-dangerous-dullard: Algor.

But Alan Keyes was the only candidate with the status of a President, going in.

Unfortunately for Our Fraternal Republic, however -- because survival in time of war is not a popularity contest -- elections are.

You're just showing how little you know about Andrew Sullivan.

Brian I agree, Alan Keyes is a great man, I'm glad W is our President, and I too know the truth of Clinton and those who surrounded him. Bush is taking the only tack he can, you need to realize the extent of the damage done by the Politically correct crowd over the last several decades, although the Clinton years were by far the most damaging. I have a small bakery route, I see the people who've been snowed, its gonna take alot of time and perhaps more innocent blood to wake these fools up. The media still upholds thier liberal bias, most older folks vote straight Democrat because they believe what leeches like Jennings, Rather, Brokaw and the rest of the Politically correct fools present to them, they truly dont realize they're the ones supporting the slaughter of the unborn, Gay marriage and adoption, affirmative action and these rediculous policies which make terrorist activity more plausible. The facts show most of the Democratic agenda is canabalistic, speeding up the decay of the very structure that provides freedom. Most people actually believe there was a vast right wing conspiracy, I believe Bush is moving wisely along, time will tell, he's our best chance because the time is now. Give him time.
