Arming pilots is a gun-grabbers worst nightmare. There is essentially no real argument against it. There are certain rounds that are "safe" enough to be fired in a pressurized cabin. Armed pilots are a significant deterrent. And the usual psychological arguments don't work, i.e., they can't scare people into worrying a pilot will "go postal" and start shooting up a full airliner, when it would be much easier to nose-dive it into the ground.
There are no good arguments against arming pilots, so lookfor them to scream bloody murder.

Yes, there needs to be some type of protection for passenger safety but the pilots job is to pilot the plane safely. "
Do you fly a lot? If this is your concern, then I would be amazed to hear that you had ever flown.
Oh, you were just kidding? Silly me for taking the bait.
