Yeah. When the camera first showed Goldie she was giggling and laughing. How does Kurt put up with her?

Very simple, those same people called Bush and other conservatives all kinds of crap, they have supported the left for years. They get a chance to act human and they read off a tele-prompter.Was there some good music mixed in the mess? Yes and I appreciated it.
Which one supported defending the country, the President, the Military, the congress? Did you hear something I may have missed? Where was the salute and send off to the miltary to keep their elitist asses safe? Are they going to raise money for the dead at the Pentagon and why were'nt those poor souls talked about? I know there were hero storys there too!
Oh I know we are'nt supposed to pay attention to what they left out cause they are doing good? Our military is going to war and those candy asses did that show under high security, well excuse the hell out of me.

That's what I kept thinking! Not so easy when one has to do it live. They always have the luxury of retakes. I guess it makes them feel better about themselves to laugh at him. The sign of an insecure person.

I tried to watch it, but had to keep switching away...because I found most of the performances disappointing and uninspiring. (though there were a few good moments)
I think the fact that Hollyweird and entertainers in general have always been among the least patriotic and part of the "blame America first" crowd..this entire event seemed a bit forced and contrived.
I think this impression was magnified by a week of reality, and real stories about real heroes and selfless sacrifice that evoked real passion and patriotism.
It sort of made this staged event by people who for the most part and are high on image and low on character.. somewhat less than impressive by comparison.

"Born in the USA" would definitely not have been a good choice for Bruce.
Its an anti-war song. Not a good choice.

I don't know. According to aruanan we're slime, or what we write is. Gee whiz. I thought I was giving my opinion.

If they want to do something, let them write big fat checks WHEN THE CAMERAS ARE OFF! Til then, it's all about their need to be the center of attention, and nothing else. IMO.

It's not just you. Maybe they won't be so quick to judge his speaking abilities anymore.

Pres. Bush said so many great things last night. You'd think the "stars" could have come up with one quote from his speech instead of having to refer to past dem. pres.

"My wife came down to help me that Neil Young was singing 'Imagine.' Man, was she ever ticked off! I didn't hear any gunshots so the TV's probably OK."
Haha We had recorded this on the hard drive, SO I KNEW we could fast forward through one of the most depressing songs ever written. :(
I'd like to say that while the folks here talk about uniting, their's an awful lot of people who just can't wait to criticize the left. Hey, I thought a lot of the music was lame, too, but then again, I didn't expect much except, hopefully, to see a lot of money raised in the newspapers. :)

You will ALL be happy to know that CNN just REPORTED that Bill Clinton took President Bush' advice and went out and spent $340 at the MBA store in mid-town Manhattan. They call this 'NEWS'? They didn't say whether he has gone to the bathroom today but I'm sure that's the NEXT 'news' story!
BTW, why didn't Fox carry this 'telethon'?

Overall, the show appeared to have a lot of phony-ness. Stallone was yawning one time then the camera hit him and he picked up the phone and said hello. Julia (Republican hater) Roberts gave an Academy Award tear jerker performance, probably better than any of her movies (she almost had me believing her).
On the other hand, Faith, Dixie Chicks, and Mariah did well. But then they are probably the best entertainers on the planet right now.
Off topic but Bill Maher is on Tonite show doing more whining and trying to save his careerass. He is getting what he deserves. Just said Prez gave a great speech.

Our house guests wanted to watch it, so we turned it on. After about a half hour they all took a break and left the room briefly. For some reason it wasn't on anymore when they got back. And no one complained.

And is it just me, or did President Bush DO A BETTER JOB OF DELIVERING HIS 34 MINUTE SPEECH THAN ALL THESE HIGHLY PAID SO-CALLED ACTORS DID WITH THEIR SHORT BLURBS?!?!?! Well we are on the left coast and just now watching it (it's kind of like a train wreck now even though we have been duly warned.) Just got done watching Cameron Diaz a few minutes ago and I told my husband "I didn't realize they were THAT illiterate." He laughed at that one. I mean I figured they had enough of an IQ to read the simpler of words of English off of the teleprompter but I guess even that is too much to ask for. She stumbled her way through reading the actual words and I have to assume that there must be absolutely no punctuation coming through that teleprompter because I was filling it in for her (breath at the comma, full stop at the period.) What are they teaching in schools these days?? She wasn't the only one reading like that just the worst so far...

To: all, good morning, A final comment
It's amazing to read the newspapers this morning......everyone talks about the show, like a baseball story the night before the game, the players but no meat.
A hollywoood show done by hollywood people for themselves..... a first class joke that was so dismal it's a shame it happened.
It seems so "forced" it was hard to watch......
I'm sure they're all congratulating themselves today.....
I'm listening to a TV commentator whom I usually respect talk right now, this morning, about the emotion if Bruce Springstein.......
I guess I had the wrong channel on
