God had NOTHING to do with this? So......God didn't have the power to have anything to do with this, or God didn't care to have anything to do with this? Or.........? Or perhaps God DID ALLOW this?

NYC is NOT Babylon! It NEVER has been! This is just the latest theory amongst the "tossed to and fro" crowd.

Yeah, how could New York City possibly be confused with what Jesus revealed to be, "that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth (Rev 17:18) And how could the twin towers possibly be related to this passage: "And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more. (Rev 18:11). And if the destruction of the World Trade Center was (or was the symbol of) 'Babylon The Great', then one would expect these words of the next chapter to have some significance:

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron (Rev 19:11-15).

Yea, many shall run to and fro . . .

Thanks for the post, Hope. I was wondering what David Wilkerson would say about this tragedy.

If people have not read "The Cross and The Switchblade" - about Pastor Wilkerson - and his honest, one on one, life-turning upside down ministries to New York City Gang members of the most violent and drug addicted types - including one Nicki Cruz - they should check it out.

Nicki Cruz lived and ministered for awhile here in the Raleigh Durham area. He had been a murderous, raping thug would just as soon slit your throat as look at you. Through David Wilkerson, Nicki Cruz - and hundreds if not thousands of others like him - have met Jesus Christ, the REAL Jesus Christ, and his life was transformed!

David Wilkerson has since then been a prophet to this nation - warning our beloved America of God's judgement to come if we did not repent of our sins, both individually, and as a nation, and turn back to God. So, his comments posted here are not unexpected nor are they out of whack with David Wilkerson's role as a prophet warning America.

Having said that, I have not before nor do I now take any human being as the one who interprets God's scripture to me. That role is only for the Holy Spirit who has been given by our Resurrected Lord to all who have come to Him in faith, receiving the gift of salvation found in Him. Some of God's men - and women - on this earth are privileged to carry God's Word to others. Each follower of Jesus Christ should be spending time on bended knee in fervent prayer and in quiet meditative times reading His Word and asking God to bring His truths to our consciousness. "Praying the Bible" is a tremendous thing to do at any time, but especially at a time like this. God will lead us through His Word which is a light unto our Path.....especially in the dark days in which we find ourselves right now.

David Wilkerson is responsible to the God he serves - as is each one of us. God will either confirm him as a true prophet of God or he won't.

In the meantime - a man of God who speaks with authority and truth is Pastor Adrian Rogers, of "Love Worth Finding" ministries. A link to his site website where he has put a special audio and written statement about the recent events is Over here.

On Dr. Rogers Biographical page I found these endorsements of Dr. Rogers:

"Billy Graham: "We need for ministers of the Gospel to defend the Bible as the infallible Word of God…I believe in my heart that Adrian Rogers is such a man. I know him personally. I have walked with him and prayed with him…I know God's hand is upon Adrian Rogers as he proclaims the Bread of Life from his church and through radio and television…I praise God for his ministry."

Chuck Colson: "In my opinion, Adrian Rogers is one of the truly great preachers in America today - and a beloved friend. This is God's man with God's message."

George Bush: "Here is a man whom the Southern Baptists have kept coming back to. He served them earlier as president of the Convention and now again. On top of everything else, he pastors one of the largest churches in the world…There are many who presume to speak for the evangelical movement, but surely Dr. Rogers is one of the handful who truly represents them. He is a great man with a lot of influence and a lot of wisdom…"

Adrian Rogers pastors a church of 28,000 members. I have heard him preach many times. Every time I hear him, it is a joy and a benefit to me. I heard him speaking today about the attack on America.

As much as I love and revere Dr. Rogers, and Billy Graham, (and I do), I will listen and ask the Holy Spirit to bless to my hearing their words spoken as inspired by Him. But they are no substitute for my spending time in reading the Bible daily and asking God's Spirit to teach me there Himself.

President Bush is NOT befuddled. If anyone is BEFUDDLED, it is YOU, for claoming that he is.

You belong to a religous sect that most here do not. To try to claim that YOU know it all and no one else does, is the height of hubris. This is NOT a theocracy, and while you are free to believe as you like, you are NOT free to impose your beliefs on others .

You beed to read Jim's directive .

Thank you so much for your reply, It was refreshing..I am very familiar with the "Cross and the Switchblade" and also Nicki Cruz and his ministry...You are right about revering our teachers of the gospel, they have an awesome responsibility as they will endure a stricter judgement than those of us who do not. I am just a little familiar with Adrian Rogers, thanks for the link..God Bless you, looking forward to the day when I can finally meet my Freeper freinds on that glorious day!

"Well, If you had read the entire post you would have realized that is what the author is saying. Repentance is not a bad word...I do not believe that the author by quoting Rev 18 actually said he believed that is what happened in NY...He seemed to find it ironic that the newsman would speak words along those lines. If you do not believe what has happened is a wake up call for repentance and self examination then just move on."

LOL! You posted that Babylon is NYC. Stop making thigs worse... . It isn't "ironic". It's called wrong interpretion of the Bible. It isn't a wake-up call with Christians. They repent and reflect everyday. Maybe you should look into this too!

"Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. "

Loving the "law" which Christians are not under, doesn't offer you a refuge. Do you realize how you have managed to also misapply this verse? Do me a favor and don't reply. Must you resort to more Scripture twist to save face for a foolish post. It appears so... .

Recall:

Prov.16:18

[18] Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

"Mother Teresa said that the practice of abortion would lead to nuclear war. Well, here we are; World War III. Hope it's not true, cause we kill thousands every day. Just toss the parts in the bucket there... Sort of like a WTC trouncing daily. (May God have mercy on their souls)"

I'm not a Catholic. Complain to them ;)

By your own words, you indict yourself. You are letting your emotions do your reasoning to fit an opinion you have.

Read through what you wrote. Slowly. Also read through Revelation and look at the sequence of events that are to occur. You will find no correlation.

I was going to abide by your request and not reply, but I am just as human as you are..You have come here with your pious self-absorbed opinion and accused me of everything from following satan to mis-intrepeting scripture...I have offended you, I have nothing to apologize for in that respect because I have the feeling that you are one who is constantly offended...Your one of the worst kind of "christians" I have ever had the chance to run across. But your not alone here, I'm sure you take great comfort in that you are with like minded ones who believe their form of Bible interpretation is the one and only way and to hell with anyone else who gets in their way..I pity you.. your bitterness seems to be eating at the core of your marrow. I suppose I could have understood you better had you been in the right spirit presenting it...But, that's just not you is it?

Sorry, but I did not hear Bush ever leave God out of the equation. What he did do, however, was kind of leave Jesus Christ out of the equation, in some mistaken spirit of "tolerance." www.answers.org

Either he is a real prophet and should be heeded due to the accuracy of his prophecy from God or he is a false prophet and a false teacher. In the Bible, there is no other type of prophecy or prophet.

The scriptural penalty for false prophesy ensured it never happened twice. How many modern prophets would be willing to take the test?

Let me remind you that there are those who come in sheep's clothing but on the inside they are ravening wolves. The sad truth is, many people are going to hell and some of them are right here. It's astounding that as the heat gets turned up, and God's warnings become more severe, and as the handwriting on the wall becomes stark and bold in it's contrast, some hearts grow harder and refuse the wooing of the Holy Spirit! Woe to them all!

Is that a "thus saith the Lord" or are you just prophecying off the top of your head?
