"It is time for God to do the sorting." Sigh.
To: LLAN-DDEUSANT
Unfortuantely, I believe we need to do both.
To: Clinton's a liar
are there footnotes in the book to support the facts of this article?
It talks about the initial clandestine meeting brought about by a clandestine border crossing enabled by Iraq without passports, etc. How does anyone know about it if it was clandestine?
That is, where's the footnote?

If he doesn't finish the job, we'll all have much more to worry about than elections.

This may be old news here, but here is the squib from Cheney about Saddam:
MR. RUSSERT: Saddam Hussein, your old friend, his government had this to say: The American cowboy is rearing the fruits of crime against humanity. If we determine that Saddam Hussein is also harboring terrorists, and theres a track record there, would we have any reluctance of going after Saddam Hussein?
VICE PRES. CHENEY: No.
MR. RUSSERT: Do we have evidence that hes harboring terrorists?
VICE PRES. CHENEY: There is in the past, there have been some activities related to terrorism by Saddam Hussein. But at this stage, you know, the focus is over here on al-Qaida and the most recent events in New York. Saddam Husseins bottled up, at this point, but clearly, we continue to have a fairly tough policy where the Iraqis are concerned.
MR. RUSSERT: Do we have any evidence linking Saddam Hussein or Iraqis to this operation?
VICE PRES. CHENEY: No.

There are five pages of sources at the back of this book. There are also endorsements from people, Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick being the one whose opinion of the facts I respect the most of those offered..
There is also a note in the introduction stating that some human sources could not be revealed. It would place lives in danger.
The man has impeccable credentials and endorsements. Some of this you have to judge by his credentials, for obvious reasons, and decide for yourself if it makes sense.

True, especially there's a good chance that I may be over there.
I'm still in college, but if the draft comes, I'm refusing a deferrment.

That was eluded to earlier on this thread. Thank you for the transcript. As I said earlier, I do not agree with that statement. There could be reasons that the Vice President wouldn't implicate Hussein at this time, surprise being one of them. I pray that is so. It is very clear to me that Hussein's fingerprints are all over this. I don't believe bin Laden would've taken on the US in this manner without a much more powerful ally. I'm also concerned about the nuclear/chemmical/biological aspects of this as further explanation for the hubris.

God bless you, Dan. We may need good folks like you to step forward. We'll just have to see where this goes.
Besides, you'll get to play with all of those guns! LOL Just kidding.

There is also a note in the introduction stating that some human sources could not be revealed. It would place lives in danger. I accept the above as a valid explanation.
However, if I were a government official, I would call him in and I'd ask for something more than his word. I might believe him, but to ACT on it, or more importantly, for me to prove it to other nations so they would ACT with me, then I'd need MORE than his word.
Bottom line, though, is that you gave a very fair response to my question. Thanks.

The Saudis hate the Iraquis.. always have. What? Why are so many just waking-up to the fact that everyone in that region of the world hates everyone else? The United States and Israel are the only two entities that they hate more than they do each other. I've often thought that we just ought to step back and let them kill each other off. Forget any peace talk. It will never happen in the Arab world.

I wish George HW Bush and Colin Powell finished the job. I think there is some UNFINISHED BUSINESS that needs to be done.Dan - It's my belief that the Saudis wouldn't let GHWB and Powell finish the job. They provided a whole bunch of financial support for the Gulf War, and it was all predicated on kicking Saddam out of Kuwait, getting rid of the threat to Saudi Arabia, but going no further.
It seems to make sense - they're the ones who had to live with him right next door long after we'd gone home.

I'm sure he's given his information and sources (and more that is classified) in his capacity as the director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare. He just didn't include everything in the book. But what he has said is quite substantial!
Regards.

I don't believe I've implied anywhere on this thread that Hussein was interested in Saudi Arabia. If I did, it was unintended... which gets back to my point -- Hussein and bin Laden entered into their unholy alliance to attack America. That's my contention.
To: Clinton's a liar
link them together in a chain gang up to the gallows with 100 of their friends.
To: Samaritan
Oh, you're talking about during the Gulf War. Yes, I DO believe that Hussein WAS interested in Saudi Arabia when he took Kuwaitt. So did Saudi, or they wouldn't have let us into their country to fight him.
I don't believe he entered into a relationship with bin Laden in 1998 to take Saudi, but to attack America.

Amen.

The evidence of Korans and photos of Bin Laden and "how to fly jumbo jet books" left in rental cars is a bit too lame for me. Stolen identities and forged documents incriminating Saudis and guys from Dubai also indicate lots of false clues to me. I believe that the hijackers became emboldened and at the end did not care if people found the manuals or links to their mission. Remember, that two of the suspects were in a bar, drinking, objected to the tab and made comments about what the next day would bring. This was heard by more than one person in the bar.

On the MSNBC Town Hall tonight, Gen. Schwartzkoff said he saw no signs of any connection between the 911 attacks and Saddam Hussein. I was surprised to hear him say that.
Maybe he's just blowing smoke to keep our enemies guessing or then again maybe he's serious. Time will tell.
