The real enemy is literalistic interpretations of religious texts. Take you religion literally, and you end up like the terrorists that killed all those people in New York and Washington. Falwell is a well of falicy, taking the great symbolism of the Bible literally like the Muslims that take the Koran literally. This makes you crazy.

Naw. Religion is not a danger. Ideology and moral-liberalism are the dangers.

To the degree that this is true, in the world of Falwell:
FALWELL's ENEMIES:
FALWELL's FRIENDS:

That says it all. This is Falwell's opinion. He has a right to it. What exactly is the problem here?? Well, evidently Libertarians think that Falwell ought to be denounced as equivalent to the Taliban for expressing an opinion that differs from theirs.
Does anybody know George Orwell's phone number? I think he could get some real mileage out of this ...

Goethe? No,he lived to the ripe old age of 83 and was one of the greatest minds ever produced by our Western Civilization. (Did Gertrude von Goethe ever learn to add spaces between her sentences before she turned to moldy mush?) The measure of greatness is not what Derville think is great, but by how many people follow afterwards. So we may measure St. a Paul as one of the greatest, and a Goethe as one of the least.

A Man telling one's opinion of what God is allowing to happen to America as punishment for wickedness--like abortion and banning prayers--based on his biblical studies is not the sameas advocating or wanting it to happen.

I'm disappointed in you. You're a Cultural Jihadist? I thought you were more intelligent than that. A follower of the biggest liar on FR? Man, that's sad.

If what you say about people suffering for sins, either of their own or others is true, then either you must suffer immeasurably, or others are suffering in your stead, because a lie is a sin, and you lie almost every time you post.
The hate you spew, in Christ's name, must be causing a world of suffering, somewhere.

As other posters have said, Falwell doesn't advocate coercion of people who disagree with him.
Mostly he's a blowhard. Not an evil man but one who shoots from the hip and then pulls back, because he doesn't have any real theological discipline. He just assumes that his gut talking to him is God talking to him and opens his mouth and goes bang.
One of my hopes is that the seriousness of the times we've entered will push the various blowhards of the left and right into the obscurity they deserve, from Browne and Falwell and Buchanon over to that whole pack of nasty little leftwing screamers who took over much of opinion journalism in the Clinton era.

This is BS! The Bible says God judges nations corporately when he chooses to, though he does this rarely and does so in love to try to get us to return to Him.

All I do is describe Reality. Anyone is free to disagree with Reality if they want to.

Hmm...let me enlighten you. Someone who is born into a Christian, Jewish, or Muslim family is offered only their current lifetime. Had you been born into a Buddhist or Hindu family, rebirth would have been one of the graces which God could have bestowed upon you. But since you weren't, then you don't. Come back after your savikalpa samadhi and we can talk some more. :::no need for me to look in books:::That's unChristian and unBiblical in the extreme.
