I remember a scene from an old movie MINSTREL MAN in which a black paints himself white, walks through a White crowd and says to the black Minstrel,
“I am the ONLY White man in this crowd!”
Minstrel: And why are you the only White man here?”

It did not end well for him or the minstrel show.
