The have fought the evil empire to a standstill for three years.
Meanwhile Russia is going broke.
The fecklessness of the Russian military is also a factor. Doesn't mean we have to keep giving money and armaments to Ukraine if the whole thing is a prolonged fiasco with millions being senselessly killed. It just isn't our fight. It never was.

Ukraine has a few months of suffering coming. Best to make a deal now, while you have a good shot and an army left. Too many Russians have died for them to give up. Remember what Putin said. “Where ever a Russian soldier’s boot steps, that is Russia.” In the end—Russia will get bigger, Ukraine smaller. That is the way of the world for many generations. You doubt this? Just talk to a Tibetan.
