What did the rule about having it read aloud say about it being read, are there any sleep breaks, and if so, did the senators set up cots?
If they overrule the parliamentarian on a rule, I think that such a thing has to be voted on by the senate at large.
I’ll be the contrarian - happy to see these special pork provisions called out. Alaska and Hawaii need to live by the same rules as everyone else. This was the same crap that was used to pass Obamacare.
These same rules protect my interest when the rats are running the show, which, for those with short memories, was just 4 years ago.
Bitch
The Senate parliamentarian is appointed, no votes required. Elizabeth MacDonough, has held the office of senate parliamentarian since 2012, appointed by then-Senate majority leader Harry Reid.
IMO, it's far past time for her to go.
WASHINGTON– On Thursday, U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama), and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee), introduced a resolution to implement term limits on the Senate Parliamentarian, a key figure in the United States Senate who advises on rules, procedures, and precedents as it relates to the reconciliation process, according to a statement from Marshall's office.
