The longest journey begins with a single step.

If the idiot GOP can’t completely cut off NPR and PBS they should all resign.

Ridiculous.

Mike Johnson is a Dem.cuck.

Good that it passed.

$9.4 billion out of $7-8 TRILLION.

That’ll keep us distracted.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

That hardly puts a dent in the USAID black hole or hardly a month of financial support to Ukraine

Most of these Republican “No” votes would have flipped to “Yes” if they were really needed. This is about allowing Republicans who represent purple districts to vote in a way that will not hurt them with their more moderate constituents. LaLota ad Bacon got the short straw this time.

If they claw back this amount 100 more times, they will reduce the deficit 33%.

Uhh, did you read the article? The bill that the House just passed does exactly that - cut off NPR and PBS funding. And it only passed because Johnson pressured enough caucus members to flip their vote.

I didn’t read it that way. Probably the reporters bad writing.

Thanks.

Only for 2 years? Such heroes.

They always act like they’ll lose. And do with that thinking.

PBS and NPR need to be gone. The Sesame Street daze are over and the Street Taco daze are here. These are the daze of “F” Bombs, Molotov Cocktails, burning American flags while waving the Messican fag rag, beating up old ladies and torching Tesla vehicles and dealerships are here when you’re not murdering young Jews as they were preparing for their wedding day or shooting a healthcare CEO with a wife and kids in the back like some kind of Mafia piggy named Luigi.

That’s because this is a recission bill. It can only cut spending that has already passed. Currently, PBS and NPR are funded through 2027.

Muppets generate millions and millions in sales. Let them pay for it.

Why were we subsiding Jim Henson all those years?

Weren’t they sold to Disney? Everything else was it seems.

I listen to their classical music services, and occasionally Car Talk or Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me.

And occasionally encounter their pledge drives, where they try to guilt me into sending them money.

And I agree, it’s a service worth paying for.

But so long as they’re taking tax money, I’m already paying.

So, the WH has an unwritten plan to test the limits of the recission law. The President can withhold funding for up to 45 days while congress reviews the request. The plan is to ‘run out the clock’ on a large number of expenditures, by making the request in late August, with less than 45 days left. If the money isn’t spent by Sept 30 (and it won’t be, because it will be on hold), the clock will run out and the money can’t be spent. The RATs are already planning to appeal to SCOTUS.

YES. Winning.

and $1.1 billion to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which partially finances National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

True and I hope you’re right. We need to make a real dent in the runaway spending.
