Several factors...they didn’t start their takeoff roll at exactly the same time (UAL was ahead of Skywest), 2 very different aircraft types (different “V2” speeds, Airbus A320 and and a CRJ), and the UAL didn’t start their mistaken “cross path” until a minute or so after leaving the ground....these factors giving time for the 0.46 mile horizontal separation.

FTA: just 0.4 nautical miles and 280 feet separated these two planes

True, but turning left in front of the other plane is not good form.
