Wow, that must have pissed the journalists off when Leo said that.

Free speech in America is an inalienable right not a gift.

Free speech in America is an inalienable right not a gift. He is speaking to an international audience. Not many countries are as blessed as America when it comes to our Bill of Rights.

Lots of rights are withheld.

When he shows his true self he will be screaming against free speech. He is a socialist wolf.

Tell that to your leftists.
THEY are the ones constantly banning and suspending. Never mind their “voices” are CONSTANTLY dominating every internet “public forum”.

Yes. It would be a gift from God, as all free will is.
At the people level, however, it is ‘inalienable” and a “natural right”.

A Pope should be concerning himself with spreading Christianity and teaching its tenets. When he said he wants peace, he actually would be bold to declare knowing there can not really be any peace until everyone is Christian.

“Still waiting for any mention of, you know, the religion thing.”
There have been a lot of Christians recently and over the years who have been killed and persecuted by governments for professing Christ who might disagree with you regarding the importance of free speech.
To: KingLudd
Aactually, an “inalienable right” is merely another way of saying it is a right that comes as a gift from the Creator, rather than merely a privilege extended by government.

Still waiting for any mention of, you know, the religion thing If you read the address itself, he quotes Jesus and the Scriptures in almost the first paragraph. He was addressing a group of journalists in his daily audience, not preaching a sermon. Yesterday's address to young people was more religious in content, as I'm sure more will be in the future depending on the occasion.

I think it’s time for a Pope Sam.
To: ChicagoConservative27
He should be calling out editors to restrain their more intemperate journalists. They need a good red pen to strike out adjectives. Just give us the who, what, why, when & where (how?) & leave the rest.

Talking about free speech to journalists is fine, but every statement I’ve seen so far has been political and worldly.
