Israel will have peace when they drive the last resident of Gaza into Egypt.

“If Trump fully resumes and sticks with his “maximum pressure” strategy, the Mullahs will not be long for this world. What they are replaced with is another matter.”
The forces that would gather the Iranian people to shut down the Mullahs would be a mixed lot, but none of them would have the Muslim theocratic nonsense of the Mullahs. That is unique to the Mullahs in Tehran. They might have a majority that is to the “Left”, and collectively they’d be a “secular” government, but the nonsense that either Israel or the U.S. are existential enemies of “Iran” would not apply to them.
They would be Iranian “nationalists” and would agree that “Iranian nationalism” had been hijacked by the Mullahs and made a slave to THEIR agendas.
And “Iranian nationalism” varies depending on who is urging it. Even if they want the restoration of the Shah, there are two dynasties to choose from, the Pahlavis, deposed by Khomeini, and the Khajars, deposed by the regent Reza Pahlavi. Or they might try a constitutional democracy after decades of dictatorship theocracy. Or they might disintegrate into the miriad ethnic enclaves that were unwillingly held together by the dictatorship theocracy after the theocrats deposed the monarchs. Whatever they choose in the end, the likelihood of another sh!t-show is high.

Westerners like the family of the former Shah, but they and that family could not unify the people against the Mullahs. No, a new Iranian government minus the Mullahs will be a mixed lot, but even then their essential “nationalist” motives will be against the Mullahs and not to continue the Mullahs theocratic messianic reach for hegemony in the region.
So what will replace that messianic reach? The Pahlavis wanted to westernize, but instead were deposed by the “reformer” Khomeini, who was adored as Iran’s “messiah”. People hungry for messianic mass movements need something to replace that hunger. Germany had a “messiah,” who left them in the lurch and destroyed their good name. Now they have stagnated and surrendered to Syrian rapefugees and EU bureaucrats, with an overweight “naturalist” (nudist) at the helm for too long. You need a kinder, gentler messianic figure, someone like Kemal Ataturk, perhaps, for Iran.
“So what will replace that messianic reach? The Pahlavis wanted to westernize, but instead were deposed by the “reformer” Khomeini, who was adored as Iran’s “messiah”. People hungry for messianic mass movements need something to replace that hunger. “
That was the image Khomeini sold and western media and dumb “intelligence” accepted. In reality Khomeini’s group was part of wide political coalition that included a wide range of views. But Khomeini’s group seized the reins of the coalition steering it to no other end but the supreme rein of the Mullahs. Little by little the rest of the coalition was sidelined, exiled, arrested or killed, insuring those who actually populated the coalition could not oppose Khomeini. Over the decades of the misrule by the Khomeini forces the blinders have been ripped from the peoples eyes and they know the Mullahs are far worse than ever was the Shah. They are not looking for another messiah. In 2009, when Obama was in office, the largest anti-government demonstrations ever held in Iran was held by the opponents of the Mullahs. Obama ignored them because he wanted to make a deal with the Mullahs. Large protests were seen again when Biden was in office. Each time the people witnessed the protests were defeated by arrests and disappearance of rounded up protestors. The people would not accept another political “messiah” again.
That’s encouraging, anyway. But messianic fervor is addictive to the chronically frustrated, according to Eric Hoffer. The only thing that can replace it is a productive, fulfilling life of self-sufficiency. All dictators do their utmost to deprive their followers of that, so that their impetus is to march forward to commit more enormities. If they can’t have an outlet for their chronic frustration, and the self-sufficiency thing is not available, they’ll go looking for a fresh messiah somewhere.
Hoffer concludes that a good mass movement declares victory early, ending the active phase of their movement and solidifying the gains made with institutions, in which the frustrated masses can at last find the fulfillment they crave. The evil mass movements try to keep the active phase going indefinitely, and therefore keep their desciples forever frustrated.
I was 18 when Iran mutated into a monstrosity. My yeshiva soon became host to several teenage refugees. It was quite an experience.
I hope Trump can push the levers and hoist on the pullies that will cause a successful revolution in Iran. But what results will depend on who’s leading the charge against the Mullahs. Gotta keep the spook shops out of the critical decisions. They prefer perpetuating problems to solving them. Trump, I think, has little tolerance for them.
