Maybe if the Canadian Senate had an equal number of Senators from each province, appointed by the parliament of each province, this wouldn’t be as big a problem, with Ontario and other populous provinces running roughshod over the rest of the country.

Admittedly, that’s an American view. What would Canadians do to stop this crap?

Probably because of the filibuster in the Senate. Senate Democrats would filibuster a bill to admit a conservative leaning state to the union. But they might be okay with admitting Alberta, if we were also admitting a liberal leaning state to the union to balance things out.

50 states is enough. Granting HI independence and taking in Alberta, if they wanted it, would be a good swap. PR should never be a state and should be granted independence as well. DC should never be considered as a state, as it should be dissolved and returned to the states from which it was created.

Hawaii and P.R. or any other state, would become targets for China and even Russia. China has been very busy trying to win over countries in Africa and S.America, and even in the middle-east.

We might win some and lose many. Whatever or whoever is part of the U.s., or frieds of the U.S., must remain so, otherwise, much bigger issues/problems would arise.

It's fun to speculate on who should join us, but it's not fun at all to lose anything anywhere. China and Russia and others are hoping we do become isolationist, and we actually have the 'enemy within' willing to help them out.

Alberta has the population of New Zealand, about 5 million, so Independence is an option, too. Wouldn’t trust the immediate Canadian neighbors.
