no, I have an older one with a 4 banger, which is bad enough, but a 3? I don’t care if they hang a turbo off of it, it’s still a 3

So you don’t have a problem with Canada imposing 200% tariffs on American products...got it.

“Although, Honda CRVs have 1.5 Liter turbo charged 4 cylinders that have 190 HP”

That’s nothing, there is an upscale Toyota Corolla GR (40+K) which has a 3 cylinder 1600cc motor it delivers 300 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft of torque.

We had one as a rental in Colorado Springs and it was pretty sad.

No power and clunky transmission.

All the same cars/suvs are going to these smaller turbo charged engines to get better fuel mileage but still the get up and go when you need it.

There is nothing worse than driving an under powered car in a dense metro area. I learned that lesson when I bought a 90HP car around 1988. I got sand kicked in my face the first time I took it to the Chicago metro area. I ditched that car after a couple of years. Every auto I've bought since then can do around 0 to 60 in 6 seconds or less...

Good, I hate the Rogue about as much as the KIA rat mobile.

The latest Rogue models are pieces of garbage and are not selling. Take a look almost any list of the worst new cars to buy and its on there. 3-Cyl, Turbo, 1.5 Liter piece of garbage.

Plus recent reports are that Nissan and Honda were looking to merge because on their own, they were being too successful in sales. The tariffs are not helpful to them, but they're going to use that as an excuse to further cuts in their manufacturing and layoffs.

They could move production to the Smyrna, TN plant. But probably not, since none of this trash is selling.

FWIW, just got back from a weeklong business trip in Japan. I’m a car guy, when I go somewhere I look around at cars. And the *VAST* majority of what I saw on the streets were Toyotas. VERY VERY few Nissans.

They canceled the one non-junk model, the GTR. Yes it was expensive, but it was also an amazingly well made car. (A bud has had a couple).

It is amazing the HP/torque they now achieve from these small engines.

I was looking at a 1989 Mercedes SL560(5.6 liter V8). Classic sports car. It only produced 227 HP out that huge engine.

Then I was looking at a Lexus IS350 Convertible(3.5 liter V6). It was 305 HP.

As you point out there are now 4 cylinder turbos with over 300 HP.

A girl in my neighborhood got a new Datsun 210 for her 16th birthday.

Nissan/Datsuns used to use numerals for their model names. That was because the Japanese names translated to English were downright silly and Americans didn't like that. For instance, Sunny, Bluebird, Fairlady, etc. My wife bought a Datsun 110 back in 1973, fully equipped with options for $2500, in Japan labeled as Sunny. Ran great until she sold it in the 1990's. After the 210, my mom bought a 310 - that was an ugly car but soon got totaled in an accident, and she then bought a 510 which was a great car, until my sister got it totaled in an accident. The 810 (Maxima) was a great car, we bought it in 1981, sold it ten years later. After that was the jellybean look which afflicted most makes of cars, lack of styling.

For the last year all the talk about Nissan has been about them going out of business, or merging with another auto manufacturer. Who cares about the Rogue there are at least twenty other little tiny SUV’s on the market with hardly any differences between them

I’m not a Nissan fan, the French destroyed what ever good Nissan had. Then the French did not work with Honda to combine companies. The Japanese government helps companies stay in business because it is important for Japan. But they are unable to work with the French to save what is left of Nissan.

I have a 2014 Rogue with 142k on it - still runs great, never needed anything but regular maintenance. We almost bought another one in 2020 but glad we skipped - sounds like they have gone downhill.
