Yes, almost all of us like stuff, Chinese and otherwise.
But we need Chinese to buy American stuff so we have a recurring means of buying Chinese stuff.
If the Chinese, even for 100% sound reasons don’t fully hold up their half of Chinese<->US trade, the US must respond.
I can’t yell “bullying” at my banker. It is my responsibility alone to have enough money in my account to cover my check and debit card use.
I have great respect for the majority of Chinese who work hard and do the right thing, but math is math.
It should be kept in mind that an alternative to a 10% tariff might be a market-driven 14% devaluation of the US dollar.
Nothing the Brits could do could hold off George Soros.
Man, they are using those liberal buzzwords. Don’t they realize we don’t care? Keep your widgets and tchotchkes. We’d be better off without them.
Well, if you are willingly buying Chinese tat, you are a peasant. Check the label. Avoid countries that are enemies of humanity.
“High tariffs specifically on China is to let the CCP know that the US has the economic power to destroy the Chinese economy, throwing their entire country into chaos and upending their political system, even possibly the overthrow of the CCP.”
We have no such power. The Chinese can drop the USA as a customer in the same way Argentinians and their irresponsible governments were.
The EU is hard at work trying to get the Chinese to send stuff for negative interest Euros.
“But giving up on those would allow them to barely survive on $20/hr.”
Just like I barely survived.
“Avoid countries that are enemies of humanity.”
Our worst enemies are domestic. Many wear black robes. Others head tech companies and small businesses.
President Trump is taking bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable to their promises of halting illegal immigration and stopping poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into our country.
The orders make clear that the flow of contraband drugs like fentanyl to the United States, through illicit distribution networks, has created a national emergency, including a public health crisis.
Chinese officials have failed to take the actions necessary to stem the flow of precursor chemicals to known criminal cartels and shut down money laundering by transnational criminal organizations.
In addition, the Mexican drug trafficking organizations have an intolerable alliance with the government of Mexico. The government of Mexico has afforded safe havens for the cartels to engage in the manufacturing and transportation of dangerous narcotics, which collectively have led to the overdose deaths of hundreds of thousands of American victims. This alliance endangers the national security of the United States, and we must eradicate the influence of these dangerous cartels.
There is also a growing presence of Mexican cartels operating fentanyl and nitazene synthesis labs in Canada. A recent study recognized Canada’s heightened domestic production of fentanyl, and its growing footprint within international narcotics distribution.
Want more money get more skills and then replaced by an H-1B visa import, like I was.
“ Even $20 hr will barley keep you fed and a roof over your head.”
Unless you eat just barley.
The UK’s Deep State continues its freakout.

“China fumes ‘peasants in the US’ will suffer as country issues stark warning on Trump’s ‘shameless’ tariff war
‘
It’s good to know that the CCP has the same regard for the American middle class as does America’s Ruling Class.
Don’t kid yourself.
Without access to the US economy, China goes back to the rice fields, and they know it.
America has been completely self sufficient in the past, and can be again, but then the Swamp Rats in DC won’t get to play Masters of the Universe.
All of China’s modern economic success has come at the expense of the US, certainly not Europe.
Europeans don’t have the disposable income to support China’s manufacturing base, and there’s no other comparable economic unit in the world that does.
This is all they have. They’re stuck and they know it. They will lose the tariff war. Their only hope is that we cave in. President Trump never will.
Because they're too socialist.
When you have to bleat on and on about “5000 years of Chinese civilization,“ it means that you don’t have a serious argument. First of all, everything but about the last 25 years of Chinese history is irrelevant to the issue of trade between China and this country. Second, you don’t have to go back much further than those 25 years to find the leadership of China trying to destroy every vestige of traditional Chinese civilization that existed up to that time, and to remake all of Chinese society in their image. The hypocrisy here is stunning, and it is a massive insult to the millions of people that were murdered and ostracized during Mao’s brutal and senseless Cultural Revolution.
A simple fact here, which China is purposely choosing to ignore, is that it has built most of its economy on unfair trade practices. It isn’t just high tariffs, it is also about denying the entry of all, or all but a deminimus amount, of US manufactured goods into China. On top of that, they steal the intellectual property of our companies and utilize it throughout their industry to become more competitive - rather than being honest and paying for that IP. These issues have become so large that they must be addressed, and must be rectified. I can certainly understand that the Chinese don’t wish to do so, and that they’re going to throw a spoiled teenage girl-style hissy fit in an attempt to stop it from happening. But the simple fact is that Trump will not give into China, and only part of the reason is because he campaigned on the issue of trade fairness. He would simply be a failed president if he did not directly address and largely solve this issue. I certainly don’t expect perfectly fair and balanced trade between us and China, but if 80% of the unfairness can be removed, American industry and its workerswill do just fine.
not just shameless but...
“extremely shameless”
seems a shameless use of an adverb right there.
Shut up mass murderers. We wipe the floor with your Red flag.
Yes, the Chinese are mass murderers, killing innocent people to further their ideology. The thing to remember about Chinese is that they collectively believe that they are racially and morally Superior to everyone else in the world. It’s not just from the time of Mao Zedong, it’s been like that for hundreds if not thousands of years.
The only thing that kind of worries me is that these Chinese in the modern day are also armed with nuclear weapons. If you push them hard enough, they see no compunction in using them on their enemies.
