Agreed.
Musk’s job is to shine the light as bright as possible.
He is doing his job.
Legal work visas work too
That sounds really good.
But it's a bluff. We haven't got enough judges and prosecutors to get them all. We don't have enough jail space for them all. And we don't want to keep them in jail. We want them gone.
We are looking at 12 million potential deportees from just the last four years of arrivals. Removing 1000 per day through arrests and deportation hearings would be extremely impressive, if we could do that. But we can't. And it would be insufficient if we could.
The best we can do is create a hostile environment that will encourage the illegals to self-deport.
That means denial of all welfare services to illegals. It also means punishing government officials who circumvent those restrictions.
That means - enforce I-9 verification requirements and punish employers who hire illegals without checking for valid work authorizations.
That means offering free "return home" flights to any illegal who wants one, with minimal questions asked (No outstanding warrants for murder, robbery, rape or assault). They get registered in a biometric database, given temporary immunity from arrest, and leave on the next available flight out. They also get eligibility to return to the US after three years, provided they get a proper visa.
That means arrests and expedited deportations. In a very few cases, that does mean trials with a lot of publicity when the deportation judgement is ordered. Perhaps there should be a website with a list of people deported last week. All that is mostly for show.
