Somehow I have a hard time thinking the apostle that who wrote that would not have approved of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

I have heard countless teachers use that verse to condemn the American Revolution. But it is clear to me that God was appointing authorities in that instance, and using this verse to justify fighting for the British would have been actually defying the instruction of the verse.

When you have conflicting governing authorities which one should you be subject to?
