There is no realistic scenario where the Republicans will not continue to control the Senate.

Only, the Democrats currently control the Senate.

I see a lot of crossover voters for Trump, particularly among racial minorities, but still see them voting straight ticket "Dem" in all other races.

i think this is all about the Clinton faction and the Obama faction contending for power on their side of the fence.

slow joe in a second term was a nonstarter. at that point someone put heels-up as the candidate (and she couldnt be removed without incurring political damage to the democrats).

heels-up is also a non-starter, so whoever put her up as slow-joe's replacement
1) deliberately lost this election and
2) deliberately damaged the (democratic) party

which faction put heels-up as the contender here?

The economy is only a couple of ticks from full on crisis, so part of the calculus is to blame Trump for the coming crash
