I used to sell wood pulp to the cellulose acetate industry. Most, if not all, cigarette filters are cellulose acetate (”CA”)
What is CA? It is wood or cotton fiber that is dissolved and then regenerated into a long gauze like fiber. The fiber is then packed into a paper tube.
It’s been 14 years since I worked but at that time, there were no plastics in cigarette filters. Industry studies showed the filters were biodegradable, being as they were from tree or plant based fiber.
Rush said that smokers deserve a medal for paying all of those taxes. This county needs to raise their other taxes to make up their loss.
