Vastly different skill sets.
yep and last thing you want to do is demoralize or demotivate your good ones.
Lots of people laughing and mocking the tech layoffs but when that cycles through the economy they aren’t going to laugh anymore.
The upper middle class 250-750K/yr people spend a very outsize amount on goods and services and they are pulling back. That’s going to hurt a lot of the people below them whose businesses depend on them.
Not a problem; just look at their prior work history (every prospective employer has a right to see that), if it says worked remotely for Amazon for two years then quit, just throw the application into the round file.
No interview, no company interaction of any kind; if they ask why there was no response just tell the idiot that their application is on file.
Blah, blah, blah..you aren’t in your 20s or 30s dude
The word, "remote" isn't going to be found in the CV any more than the word, "hybrid" is.
For most white collar jobs if i don’t think I can trust someone to work independently and achieve what they need to without strict supervision why would I hire them in the first place?
Typical of the “intelligent” responses one gets on FR these days.
I’m pretty much an old fashioned Luddite (or just an old fart) and not up on the latest acronyms, what is the CV?
With the economy the way that it is AND NOW problems on the horizon with the supply chains Amazon probably NEEDS to shrink its workforce!! During Covid Amazon was BOOMING and needed all of the staff NOW not so much!!
Quiet you
Do they want to be longshoreman perchance?
It's great for me however. I spend about an hour in the car and an hour and fifteen minutes on the commuter train from Westport, CT. (15 minutes to walk to the office from Grand Central).
The hour in the car I'm listening to podcasts. Recently it's been the "History That Doesn't SucK" podcast which is nearly 200 hours of content at this point. The hour and 15 minutes on the train is usually reading books while listening to classical music. Reverse on the way back. It's really a nice routine.
Of course. I said they should, not that they were obligated to.
I’ve been remote for eight years. If I suddenly had to go to an office, it would mean a 60 minute drive to Spokane or retirement. I would choose to retire.
