During the 80s, when the SAC IG inspected, they would get a random listing of people they’d bring in for a weight check. If they were over, they had better be on the Weight Management Program.
Additionally, they would go around the base with a bus. When they saw someone in uniform who LOOKED overweight, they’d order them onto the bus. Once they picked up a decent amount they’d take them to the Base Hospital for a weight check. Again, if they were over, they had better be on the program.
Ask him if he flew for Omega and/or CCS, MACVSOG.
I guess I was operating on the (maybe foolish) assumption that qualified vets would apply for these jobs.
Translation: Pilot error.
