Definitely a factor. There are some women who do not like the idea of a woman President. Or at least have a more critical view of a female candidate than they would an otherwise similar male candidate. The "identity politics" ploy doesn't work with gender as much as with race. Pretty much any race will naturally have positive feelings towards their own race (except perhaps for those pesky self-hating whites). But women can often be more judgmental of other women than they are of men. In the human species, it's natural for women to compete with each other for the attention of men in the mating game, so they tend to have a keen eye for the flaws and weaknesses in other women.
