It was my understanding that the cop was boosted up by another cop and pulled himself up ala pullup to just pop his head over the edge of the roof. When the shooter turned his weapon on the cop, the cop jumped to the ground and out of the way. His hands were not free to draw a weapon. The assassination attempt happened seconds later.

They had 25 min. They saw and made note of the shooter 3x before he climbed the roof. Besides the ladder should have been noted on the security assessment before the event even began.

Then why did they decide to pull themselves up on the roof? We have plenty of video showing the bystanders seeing the gunman and his rifle from the ground and calling out to alert the police.
The snipers had the roof & shooter targeted in their sites for a prolonged period of time radioing around but not delaying Trump going out on stage.

There has been a lot of misinformation about how the cop reached the roofline. He was hoisted/vaulted up to the roofline, clinging to the edge of the roof with his hands. All two of of his hands. The cop did not have a ladder to climb up or down. He would have needed to use his dick to unholster his weapon. Unless the cop was Johnny Wadd, his dick would not have reached the roofline.

The oft referenced ladder was in a different area between rooftops, hidden behind tall shrubs.

There are photos of investigators casually standing in the exact same spot. They are standing upright and not struggling to maintain balance.
