Carmella’s Mom (a physician) was from a high Indian caste, and her Dad was a descendant of Jamaican slave traders. She was an anchor baby for her imigrant parents and grew up in liberal Canada. Was she really ‘ and authentically - “down wid duh shtrugga” to be accurately called an African-American?
