FTA-—Jill Biden attended two official White House events in Middleville, Michigan, to highlight summer nutrition programs and a Hidden Helpers summer camp for children from military families, as well as the campaign office opening with Chasten Buttigieg, the husband of Biden’s Transportation Secy homosexual Pete Buttigieg.

As the president faced a growing number of calls Wednesday to step aside as the party’s presumptive presidential nominee, a former Biden aide said the president and the first lady would not make any significant decision without consulting the other.

“They don’t make significant decisions in any part of their lives without consulting the other. She is a trustworthy sounding board for him, he always wants to know what she thinks, what her opinion is,” the aide said.

The White House pushed back Wednesday evening on criticism around the first lady’s role and responsibility as her husband tries to salvage his candidacy.

“The President has plenty of political and policy advisors – that’s never been her role,” Elizabeth Alexander, deputy assistant to the president and communications director to the first lady, told CNN. “As much as any husband and wife team make decisions together that impact their lives, they absolutely do, but as she’s said more times than I can count – politics is his lane. She supports his career and he supports hers.”

A flight jacket with the presidential seal is draped over the back of her chair, to leave you in no doubt about the power behind the throne.

“Prepping for the G7,” she wrote on her @FLOTUS “US Government Official” account, under the photo in which a scholarly “Dr. Jill,” wearing reading glasses, pen in hand, is studying a thick ring binder of notes.

Are these classified notes? Does drjill have security clearance to view these?

As the 72-year-old wife of the oldest president in history, the effrontery of this spousal usurper on her first overseas trip was a portent of liberties to come.

Three years later, as her husband, now 81, grows increasingly befuddled, Dr. Jill is stepping up, doing solo campaign visits and TV appearances, weighing in on politics and polls as if it were she who is running for office.

And now we hear that the first lady has been pressuring her husband on Israel’s war on Hamas with these words: “Stop it. Stop it now, Joe.” At a Ramadan event at the White House last week, Joe Biden reportedly told attendees about “Jill’s sophisticated geopolitical advice.”

WH Press Briefing on Biden’s Health Derailed

A White House Press Briefing Wednesday was momentarily derailed by a reporter’s outburst, asking if President Joe Biden was “awake” and able to come down to address the media. (Watch the clip via CNN.)

Biden has been facing increasing scrutiny since his debate with former President Donald Trump last Thursday, including several moments in which the 81-year-old, voice raspy from an apparent cold, struggled to find his train of thought. Recent polling showed 72% of Americans do not believe Biden has the “mental and cognitive health to be president,” and on Tuesday, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) became the first sitting member of Congress to publicly call for Biden to withdraw from the race.

Wednesday brought more tough headlines for the president, as a New York Times/Siena College poll was released showing Trump up 6 points nationally, and rumors continued to swirl about internal discontent among Democrats, anxiety among campaign staff, and calls for him to step aside. Nonetheless, Biden has remained adamant that he intends to stay in the race.

At Wednesday’s briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced another grilling from a skeptical room of reporters about Biden’s debate performance and intentions for the campaign.

NBC News Senior White House Correspondent Kelly O’Donnell asked if Biden had “a duty to review data like polling information that’s coming in, donor information, the fears and concerns and anxieties expressed by Democrats,” and Jean-Pierre asked for a clarification.

“You’re saying that he’s absolutely running –” said O’Donnell, and Jean-Pierre interjected, “well, he’s saying that and I’m sharing, I’m sharing with you his view.”

“– And we would invite the president to come here and tell us that directly,” said O’Donnell. “Noted. Noted, noted, Kelly,” said Jean-Pierre.

“If he’s awake!” called out a male reporter from behind O’Donnell, drawing a “that’s inappropriate!” rebuke from her. “As you heard from your colleague, the President of the WHCA, that’s inappropriate,” added Jean-Pierre. “Thank you, Kelly.”
