Stephanopoulos is certainly not above covering for Biden, but if a consensus has already been reached that it’s time to dump him this interview could be designed to expose Biden rather than cover for him. We’ll see.
Why was it taped, you may ask? Because even if Biden is forced out, it has to be done in a way to make him appear sympathetic. That may be why they’re going with a scripted, edited interview instead of a live one.
There’s a strong possibility we’ll see scenes where a “concerned” Stephanopoulos says something like “You’ve served your country for over 50 years. You stepped into the Presidency in a time of crisis and have restored its integrity, brought back bipartisanship, blah, blah, blah. Isn’t it time you say to yourself, “Well done. I fought the good fight, but now it’s time to hand off to someone who can continue your legacy”?
Shades of ... my muslim faith .... You mean Christian faith ... come to mind.
If, over the next few days, we see more and more Democrats urging Biden to step down, then you can bet this interview will go down as I described. Stephanopoulos is too shrewd, conniving and self-interested to hang himself out to dry for Biden’s sake. Besides, he’s part of the Clinton camp. The Clinton’s have no great love or loyalty to Biden.

Nope, it's a sandbag. Georgie has worked all year to set this up; his phony diatribe against Trump after the White Hospice complained over the winter that none of the MSM was toeing the line. Then he smeared President Trump so badly no recourse but for The Donald to sue him.
All along Georgie knew how bad the Bidendropov problem was (he helped orchestrate it!) and now that it has come to a head right on schedule, when the White Hospice was dumb enough to offer debates.
Now that there's no denying Trump is going to win (that chicken is in the oven), for the Democrats to have any shot at saving the down-ticket races -- the Senate is going to go GOP (hell, Steve Garvey is going to win CA barring Biden's removal), but a House flip to Hock-keem could hobble TrumpII's presidency -- Georgie knows Gruesome-Witchmer might be able to do things like hold Schiff's seat, maybe even drag Slutkin over the line in Michigan, beat Mike Garcia in CA-27, take other purple seats, and keep TrumpII under 320EV ... something is better than nothing, and oblivion is coming for the Democrats if the Zombie stays on the ticket.
So Georgie will permit Biden to confabulate (why am I the only one who knows that word describes what Biden does perfectly), but ABC will also include vignettes of Biden staring away, losing his little choo choo train of thought, they will film him from the droopy-eye side (watch!), and basically put the nail in the coffin.
