I’d like to join that Thin Mints lawsuit! Can we make it a class action?

Queer is right, but of course the meaning of words have been hijacked in these last days.

Generous Faith

Bible in a Year :

When you are harvesting in your field . . . leave [some] for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow.

Deuteronomy 24:19

A few years ago, our church was invited to host refugees fleeing their country after a tumultuous change in political leadership. Entire families came with only what they could fit in a small bag. Several of our church families opened their homes, including some who had little room to spare.

Their gracious hospitality reflects God’s triple command to the Israelites when they entered the promised land (Deuteronomy 24:19-21). As an agricultural society, they understood the importance of the harvest. The crops were essential to get them through until next year. This makes God’s command to “leave [some] for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow” (v. 19) also a request to trust Him. The Israelites were to practice generosity not by giving only when they knew they had enough but giving out of a heart that trusts God’s provision.

Such hospitality was also a reminder “that [they] were slaves in Egypt” (vv. 18, 22). They were once oppressed and destitute. Their generosity was a reminder of God’s graciousness to them in freeing them from bondage.

Believers in Jesus are similarly urged to be generous. Paul reminds us, “Though [Christ] was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). We give because He gave to us.

Reflect & Pray

When has someone helped you when you were in need? How will you give to others while trusting God’s provision for you?

Dear Father, please open my eyes to the needs of the marginalized in my community.

Good message this morning Mayor.

I grew up with his mentality from my parents. It was not from a biblical or Christ direction, but rather my parents were just very hospitable.

Mother was always cooking for other people and delivering food or having them over at our house. My brother and I were always on a short notice that our room would be given up for a period of time to travelers. We both had double beds and even though there was only one bathroom in the small Cape Cod bungalow we lived in we always had a constant rotation of visitors for a meal or for any given length of time to visit Or get on their feet financially and be in a stable situation.

We’ve lost some of that in our society. And right now it’s understandable with the large amount of immigrants that are illegal and possibly just here to do us harm — how can one not be suspicious

Nato in talks to put nuclear weapons on standby

Nato is in talks to deploy more nuclear weapons in the face of a growing threat from Russia and China, the head of the alliance has said.

Jens Stoltenberg added that the bloc must show its nuclear arsenal to the world to send a direct message to its foes in an interview with The Telegraph.

He revealed there were live consultations between members on taking missiles out of storage and placing them on standby as he called for transparency to be used as a deterrent.

Redacted 🚨 SHOCKING: America is covertly constructing large-scale detention facilities across all 50 states, but they're not for housing illegal #immigrants. 🧐 The purpose is far more sinister. Former Customs and Border Protection supervisor @JJCarrell14 reveals the truth.

This interview includes someone who has done government contracts for building these fascilities. Apparently Maryorkas is asking for more money from Congress to build more of these even though the present ones are all empty. There are facilities in all 50 states and they are not for immigrants but "dissidents", like those who refuse shots or of opposing parties. Getn real folks

Honestly norsky, I’m starting to think that all of this “Nothing Can Stop What Is Coming” does not mean what we’d hoped it meant.

Patriots lose the Battle of Bunker Hill

On this day in history, June 17, 1775, patriots lose the Battle of Bunker Hill, the first major battle of the American Revolution and the bloodiest of the entire war. The Battle of Bunker Hill began when patriots surrounding Boston learned that British commanders were planning to break out and take the hills around the city. The very green and untrained militia was surrounding the city after chasing the British back to Boston, following the opening shots of the war at the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

The British were planning to break out of the town on June 18, but a businessman from New Hampshire visiting the city alerted the patriots after overhearing the plan. At this time the militia was under the command of Massachusetts General Artemas Ward. The Continental Army was only authorized in Philadelphia on the 14th and George Washington appointed its leader on the 15th. The events that unfolded on Bunker Hill and Breed’s Hill occurred several weeks before Washington arrived and took over.

On the night of June 16, 1200 soldiers entered the Charlestown Peninsula north of Boston under Colonel William Prescott. Prescott’s orders were to build fortifications atop Bunker Hill on the northwest part of the peninsula. Prescott disobeyed the orders and built atop Breed’s Hill instead, which was further south and closer to Boston. This defiance of orders was typical of American movements at the time, since the militia was made up of units from different counties and cities with no established chain of command.

Across the water in Boston, British General Thomas Gage was informed of the American movements early on the 17th. He began preparing an assault on the peninsula, but the soldiers took their time and didn’t begin landing until late in the afternoon. By 3:00 the British began their first assault. American commanders had ordered their soldiers not to fire until the British were within close range in order to assure that every bullet would count since they were very low on ammunition.

The first British assault turned into a massacre as the Americans fired on them as they marched up the hill on Prescott’s position. Colonel John Stark repelled another attack on the left flank by British Major General William Howe. Dozens and dozens of British soldiers fell and the survivors were forced to retreat. A second assault had the same results. The British regrouped once again for a third assault, but this time the Americans on Breed’s Hill ran out of ammunition. British soldiers crawled over their own dead comrades to get to the top of the hill where hand to hand combat began. The British, who were better equipped with bayonets, finally drove the Americans back across Bunker Hill and across the Charlestown Neck.

The Battle of Bunker Hill was a victory for the British since they took the peninsula, but at an enormous cost, suffering over 1,000 casualties, 226 killed and over 800 injured. A large chunk of Britain’s officer corps in North America was killed or wounded, including the entire field staff of General Howe. The Americans lost 115 killed and 300 wounded, including the President of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress, Dr. Joseph Warren.

News of the battle shocked London to its core. The British now realized that the Americans were not the “rabble” they were thought to be, but a formidable fighting force. The battle also hardened Americans and persuaded many to join the revolutionary cause. The battle was a strategic stalemate, having no real value to either side, but to strengthen the resolve of both. George Washington would arrive in July and begin the task of forming the militia into an orderly and effective army. They would finally force the British to abandon Boston the following year.

Yes, Bunker Hill Day is a holiday in Boston. So I’m wondering if city employees get both Monday and Wednesday off this week.

The day the British left Boston in 1776 is also a holiday in Boston, Evacuation Day, but that falls on March 17th, so ... public employees probably take the whole week off.
