Reminds me of the church of the Laodiceans in Revelation 3:15-16 (Geneva Bible): "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou werest cold or hot. Therefore because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, it will come to pass, that I shall spew thee out of my mouth."
And how did dropping "crusade" work out for them? My business often takes me to college campuses and I'm taking some college courses myself through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), but I have never seen any evidence of a group called CRU on any campus.
Oh, we can call the SA for short.
I don’t think the leadership thought this one through.

That was my first thought as well.
I guess there are no history majors at the marketing firm who came up with this.
not surprised but didn’t hear or see any outrage from the parents.
Besides having been a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout, I am grateful that I was also an Indian Guides. The Indian Guides was a program for boys, grades K through 2, and their fathers. Sponsored by the Young Men’s Christian Association, it promoted fellowship, charity, faith and patriotism. However, it was long ago scrapped for being “racist” even though it taught its members to appreciate America’s Indian heritage and held toy drives for needy Indians. Being open only to males didn’t help it, either.
With all the lawsuits from the male troop leaders diddling little boys, they figured Boy Scouts of America is a damaged name. It filed bankruptcy over it.
Another group should take the Boy Scout name and reestablish the original organization.
The org has long been dead to me; the local gang was particularly pathetic.
Some of the boys might like this & maybe even some of the girls. Personally, I think it’s a bad idea. I would not encourage my son (or certainly not my daughter) to join this band of (now) misfits.
There was - but it was over a decade ago. It was around 2012 when they started allowing trans. Well - at least it was around then when they started promoting the fact that they were doing it.
There was a fight for a few years but it died off. My guess is that most people who cared pulled their daughters out. I can’t imagine any Christian family exposing their daughters to that today.
Joe Biden was an Eagle Scout…….I kid you not !
And Joseph Stalin was once a seminarian in the Russian Orthodox Church.
That is my read on it as well. The Human Rights Campaign (founded 1980) and GLAAD (founded 1985) were the main 2 LGBTQ non-profits that figured out the way to invade the corporate boardrooms was through their HR departments. That's how corporate America started pushing "diversity training" on its employees.
It is all communism emanating from Karl Marx's The Communist Manifesto (1848) which sought to destroy the traditional family unit and replace it with the state. The Frankfurt School during the early 1930s developed Critical Theory to supplant Marx's original oppressor/oppressed classes (bourgeoise vs. proletariat) with other identity groups vs. the dominant cultural class. Their professors/acolytes eventually landed in the U.S. starting at Columbia University and infected the academic culture during the 1960-1970s when the Vietnam War and Civil Rights movements were raging. POTUS#44 BHO poured gas on the fire with his particular version of Critical Theory - Critical Race Theory which he latched onto while in Harvard Law School.
When the SCOTUS decided in 2000 that BSA had the right as a private organization to establish its restrictive membership rules, Hollywood mogul, Steven Spielberg, an Eagle Scout and serving on the BSA's national advisory Board, announced in 2001 that he was resigning because of BSA's exclusionary membership rule against homosexuals. That was when the pressure started on BSA to admit homosexuals.
Concomitantly during the 2000's was when Protestant Christianity began its schism over ordaining homosexual preachers and conducting homosexual marriages. The following denominations were torn apart during this time - UCC/DoC, ECUSA, PCUSA, ELCA, and the American Baptist Church. Last year the UMC sent through a schism on the same issue. Many BSA units were chartered to parishes in these denominations.
