Nearly a million foreign nationals, the majority from illiberal regimes, are now here on full scholarships. Well at least we know they aren't learning anything useful. They will go back to their home country's dumber than when they left with the only useful skill they learned is to agitate for stupid polices.

All college sports programs should be disbanded. Intramurel only. No pre-professional teams. This would go a very long way to totally defunding the universities.

The left kills everything it touches, and universities will be no exception. Brick-and-mortar campuses add overhead to the educational package that online learning is threatening to cut radically, reducing the top-heavy economic model to something more manageable. Along the way, jobs for professors will become scarcer. For administrators, much scarcer. The latter mushroomed as a direct result of government meddling in finance but the potential for suicide is definitely there inasmuch as why hire a layer of administrators to do what the government is salivating to take over itself? The loss will be to the independence of universities that has become increasingly illusory anyway and probably always was.
There is a good deal of irony here that the people clamoring for large-scale societal change are about to experience it, good and hard.

The answer to the headline question is “No, and they shouldn’t be.” But I doubt the Totalitarian Party will allow them to fail. They’re too valuable to its authoritarian goals. They’ll be propped up, at taxpayer expense of course.

Nope. Education is shot. Industry and government no longer demand an education.
