I was in the military then and was annoyed that Reagan took the responsibility for the Marines not better protecting their base.
The blunder would be following the foolishness you keep trying to sell and doing a knee jerk emotional redirection and loss of his focused goals that changed the world, and doing it for what would have been little result of any change.
