“ More than half of the charging stations being built so far from the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure law are rising at truck stops and gasoline stations, ”

Where else would they go?!

“And you could generate the electricity right there with the 30000 gal of diesel on location. Throw in a few token solar panels for looks”

The Tesla supercharger that is across the parking lot right now has a refrigerator sized green transformer box next to it and 12,200 volt triple phase 50 feet away. Those wires on the poles are at least 2000mcm aluminum wires those can carry a thousand amps across three wires at 12,200 v no shortage of capacity on site. There are 16 SC stalls at 200kw that’s 3200kva and with a triple phase feed at 12,200v that’s 3.81 amps of current across the three phase from the power poles to on-site power transformer. Hardly a huge load from the local grids view given the backbone can run 1000+ amps look up free air 2000mcm aluminum current ratings at 75C in conduit then look at the 95C open air rating. I know engineering is racist I have been told.

“EV chargers should be required to run on windmills and solar panels.”

Mine did from noon till 330 today it filled my new Model 3 to 80% For free today since my system payed for itself two years ago. I’m 45 miles from home. Today is my long trip day from near Oklahoma into the heart of Big D. If I took my ICE today it would have cost me four gallons of 93 at $4.09 a gallon today.

I don’t have to worry about pack life or capacity loss I can turn in my lease any time with not penalty it’s a weekly lease. Hertz is letting Teslas on lease for a steal of a deal so does uber and lyft you don’t even have to drive for them they lease to anyone by the week they expect you to drive for them a single day of driving would cover the lease payment but I choose to peer to peer rent mine when it’s not in use at $20+ hr for those who need a car but cannot afford the insurance and payment hourly rentals are the way to go. One day of peer to peer rental per week covers my payment I’m driving a 2023 model 3 for free effectively it’s a win win deal. I tell people all the time make your money work for you not you work for your money.
