I'd say it's more around 60 billion with all the kickbacks and payoffs to local, state and federal governments and the union kickbacks

Exactly. With Democrats in charge everybody is trying to blow the replacement cost sky high to make room for kickbacks.

Just so they can name it after Ernesto Miranda, Cesar Chavez or St. George Floyd. The Mexican ambassador is already claiming that since HIS PEOPLE died when the ship crashed into the old bridge, HIS “latinos” who can’t speaky da Latin and kill cops because they are “disabled” and can’t speak English either, are going to build the new bridge.

Baltimore is as crooked as Oakland or Atlanta. It will cost $2 for every $1 of actual cost for bribes and ghost employees.

“Baltimore Bridge Rebuild to Cost Between $400 Million and Billions of Dollars”

Now THAT is an “estimate” I can have faith in.

Not even a NUMBER of billions just BILLIONS.

They may end up spending a lot more than that, but it will not be built.

For perspective. Bidens Border Invasion costs the US $360 billion a year.

The cost to replace the bridge will be covered by the owner of the ship that destroyed the bridge, right?

That company would be required to have insurance against property damage if their ship should run into something, right?

It is absolutely wrong for the taxpayer to bear this cost!!!!!!!

Much of the coverage for this event is absurd and it gets worse by the day.

Well, given the amount of graft, corruption, kickbacks, enviro regs et al, that sounds way too cheap. It’ll probably take 10 years and with sky high Bidenomics at work…. Well… I bet we’ll be lucky to see it built at $100B.

What assurance do we have they won’t tear it down 5 years later because it’s “racist”?

Maryland just opened the new four lane, 1.7 mile Harry Nice Bridge across the lower Potomac about a year ago. It is somewhat similar to the Francis Scott Key Bridge as it has to accommodate ship traffic under it. I haven’t found the final total cost, but I think it came in under $1b, not including demo of the old bridge it replaced. Construction started in 2019, if memory serves me right. Triple the cost and you probably have the cost for the replacement of the FSK Bridge given it will need to have a longer clear span over the shipping channel and extra protection for the piers.

I’ll take the toy bridge with the railroad track for Biden for $400M. Can I get it with the Thomas the Tank engine or does that suggest too much testosterone poisoning?

If the powers that be, ONLY want to replace the bridge, We already have the plans and engineering done. All that is needed is to buy materials and supply labor. This saves a lot of time and money. Once debris is removed, construction could start immediately. So what are the odds that politicians demand to build back better with bells, whistles and increased capacity? Be prepared to hear that, shazam, the plans are lost, yeah right. I am curious why no one has asked the bridge engineers why they did not provide any protection for the bridge supports? It may not have been very effective but it would have been better than nothing.
