Had FDR interned Japanese nationals in ‘camps’ during WWII, there would have been little objection. Internment camps were S.O.P. for enemy aliens. Locking up American citizens of Japanese ancestry is what FDR did.

Locking up people who break the law has also been S.O.P. until quite recently. Why should people with no right to be here be free to run around as they please?
