I’m ok with this playing out in the court room, as long as it is in front of a jury. If the decision is made by a judge without the benefit of a jury then the media has a heightened responsibility to expose an inappropriate decision should one occur.

Yep. As a court officer, a defense attorney is not supposed to lie. Other than that, the attorney should try to be as clever as possible.
