A good interviewer lets the subject talk as long as he stays on topic and only seeks to guide the testimony and then asking additional questions when an opening occurs.
Yes, the early history lesson was tedious, but Putin was passionate about his version of events and from my knowledge of conversation and verbal agreements made in 1991, was absolutely correct. I have posted on FR the link to the official archives a while back.

I wouldn't characterize it as mocking. I'd say Putin's point is that Tucker is much more important as a journalist.
It’s interesting to hear from Putin. He seems levelheaded. Certainly knows his country’s history. How many people here now American history? Our people are taught to hate our country. We protect Ukraine’s borders but not our own.
