DeWit claims since that conversation, that Lake has been on a “mission to destroy” him.’
DeWit needs to explain his claims in sentences one and two. Sentence three, is pretty obvious — after he treated her like a political whore, no doubt she has been on a mission to destroy him. Good on her.

Several details are curious and perhaps telling: The cryptic and unspecific talk about unnamed people back east, the NASA lapel pin bragging he was probably a Fed employee earlier in his career, the recklessness of the approach.
It all smacks of a DOJ/FBI attempt to enlist a former federal employee as a CI, to dangle the bait and then if she says or does anything other than a flat refusal, perp-walk her and arrest her for corruption, soliciting a bribe, taking a bribe, etc. The deep state affiliated crime families (Bushes, Clintons, Bidens, Obamas, etc) get the DOJ/FBI to do their dirty work.
Accusing Kari of taking money is better than actually giving her money in many ways. There is no money paid to enemys, and no money trail back from the victim that would threaten them. For another, Nazi propaganda 101, they always want to accuse the victim of what they are doing so when/if they are exposed of having committed the same crime, the public has been innoculated and skeptical/dismissive. It’s cheaper and you don’t have to worry about the target going to law enforcement. Their intermediary is a cut-out, as in this case, he won’t admit he was working for them. Even if she turned the tables, set them up and proved they were to be running this, the FBI/DOJ would just say “we had credible reports you were for sale, you passed our little test”.
So he instantly plays the Victim Card and accuses Kari of being the evil-doer!

From what has been released so far, it seems clear that DeWit was conveying a tentative offer to Lake on behalf of interests that he was speaking for. I am old enough and I and my family have been active in politics long enough to know of similar situations. DeWit is a weasel caught on tape.
