No one has a very high opinion of the intellect of the news media except the news media. Is it any wonder? None are allowed to think or communicate anything outside the required narrative. Faculties wither when unused.

The talking heads are intentionally hired for their stupidity and obedience—don’t want any rebels speaking out against the bosses.
However this case is not just about stupidity—it is about laziness—refusing to do the most basic research if unfamiliar with the subject matter.
In these days of cell phones it takes about a second to nail down basic facts—they can probably train chimps to do it.
