Yemen is never going to be a world power. Repeat after me , Yemen is never going to be a world power..For one, they have no means of ever having an industrial, technological base to propel them to be one. Some religious fanaticism isn’t enough these days.

Israel has about 1/4 the population of Yemen, but it’s GDP is 20 times bigger.

When Commodore Perry landed in Japan in 1853, the Japanese had never seen a steam ship before. Never mind the industrial age, Japan was still in the Bronze age. There was no way Japan would become a great naval power and defeat Russia in 50 years.
You don't understand trends, ups and downs, and the arc of history. You think you live in a world of permanence.

No, I'm talking about a course of action that actually means something. It'd be centered around an extremely strong program for the US, working with Canada and Mexico, to become a major energy exporter. Something close to double our total production now, by now. So, we'd be exporting nearly as much as we use. We'd have to have MUCH more pro-growth policies in all other areas. % GDP growth at least equal to China over recent decades (~ 9%). Retain industrial production. NO deficit spending. Total Federal
outlays not over 15% of GDP (preferably lower) but... Fortress America / North America, to do the job, is gonna cost ~$2.5-$3 trillion for Defense in 2023 dollars per year.
When the SHTF in the ME we'd still be affected. Assuming it doesn't go big time nuclear (probably a bad assumption, because in this scenario surely the Iranians and Saudis are well nuked up by 2023) the US should suffer no worse than the Great Depression. Europe (you obviously don't GAS) will be worse if it rejects Russian control - the Euro's may accept it, but some may fight (some of the Eastern Euro's). Arms sales should be brisk if any of those countries have any cash left... But if, say, Poland, manages to drum up some nukes, all bets are off.
Israelis -- we cannot in conscience just let them all be murdered. Invite / evacuate them here? IDF assets & manpower become ours.

You don’t understand anything if you think Yemen is a rising world power. And that’s being generous.

Tiny Yemen has a population of 33 million with an astonishing 46% of the population under the age of 15. And everyone is a home-grown Arab.
Saudi Arabia has a population of 32 million with 25% of the population under 15, except 40% percent of the population are non-citizen immigrants.
All the demographics favor Yemen and they are set to dominate the Arab peninsula.
To: Right_Wing_Madman
The thing is, Yemen is still quite split. There is a lot of tribalism to overcome, plus a (typical?) Sunni-Shia split. Plus other cultural issues. The foundation is much different than the Japan of 1853. Name a Muslim / Arab country that is an industrial powerhouse on a per person basis. There are reasons for that...
Iran, OTOH, with forward thinking leaders could potentially go very far, IMO.

So... Getting back to your original subject(!)...
Were these latest drones headed for Israel or were they attacking our ship?

None. There hasn't been a great Arab power since the Mongols destroyed Baghdad in the 13th century. But this doesn't detract from my original point: my prediction is that Yemen will eventually overthrow the House of Saud.
To: Right_Wing_Madman
It’s possible. But, more likely the country will still be a basket case in 50 years. Yemen has a LOT to straighten out. Just keeping up with enough water to drink for that growing population is a monster problem. And will the majority Sunnis go along with overthrowing SA?

And by the way, I do think Iran/Persia has potential too to be lead caliph of Islam. They have a large youthful demographic (my favorite trait of a rising power) that's well-educated. The Arabs won't like the Persians taking charge, but the Arabs were subservient to the Turks for over 400 years.
To: Nextrush
This nonsense will continue and escalate unless there is retribution.
The easy solution is to launch one bunker buster at the Iran mullahs every time the Houthis launch a rocket. This would cease within 24 hours.
To: Right_Wing_Madman
Population is meaningless nonsense. Egypt has the largest population in the Arab world. It is never going to be a world power. Nigeria is projected to have a bigger population than the U.S in 20 years. One of them is, and will continue to be a world power. One of them won’t be.
The Houthis, are Shia. They make up a third of Yemen’s population. There birthrate is no different from the Sunni majority. Yemen’s future is civil conflict. More than enough to ensure this backward shithole remains one for good
To: Right_Wing_Madman
Japanese are high IQ. Houthis and Arabs are near the bottom of the scale. There will never be a homemade Houthi fighter jet or warship… never.

What’s your solution? Surrender? That certainly seems to be the general theme around here these days, doesn't it?

Trump kept the order that the Neocons don’t want to keep they want to provoke countries push them to war. Like this?
Trump strikes Syria
President Donald Trump made good on his threats to attack Syria Friday night, launching what he called “precision strikes” against three chemical weapons sites in a military action certain to enrage Russia and raise new questions about his Middle East strategy.
