I had a R1200GS. That thing was sweet this time of year; riding down dirt roads in New England.
I took it from MA to California one summer. What a great bike.

I have a Honda motorcycle. Best all round. I love BMWs but my Honda is a much better bike.

Huh? They’ve been building them since the 1930s.

I’m referring to the lithium batteries that will power the “motor”cycle, and likely catch on fire at some point.

Max Friz and his gang started making BMW motorcycles in 1923.

Never owned one but I did get a chance to ride a coworker’s GS. Loved the throttle response, just like a rheostat. No hesitation, no burbles or stumbles, just an incredibly smooth increase in speed with a twist of the throttle.

Sorry, I was off a few years. My first motorcycle was a 1963 R50/2. Neat little bike for a beginner. Eventually moved up to an R1200.

Is it a fact that BMW uses lithium batteries that catch fire?

Don‘t worry.
They wrote that BMW just has to iron out a glitch in the fuel system of its ICE bikes. Imports will resume as soon as the issue will be fixed 🙂

Maybe they found some kinks in the gas bikes Yes. It's temporary and is not related to the ICE vs Elec war.
From an international motorcycle forum: this stop-sale seems to be caused by the EVAP system. The US & Canada apparently require this system since the 70's, however we don't have this requirement in the EU
