That was right neighborly of the Fed-ex guy. He could have just dropped the package and ran.

Just think, a child could have been first out of the car and running to the door when coming home and ran directly into the snake.

The driver should be commended for his "toxic masculinity".

My mother-in-law was the president of a medical technical college in the early 1990’s. One of her instructors came running in her office and said there is a five foot long rattlesnake in the student break area and its not leaving a student is going to get bit.

She told the faculty member go to the door and don’t let anyone out there. She went to her car and got her .38spl and had everyone clear out of that area, walked out and shot it in the head and disposed of the body. She then had to call her boss at the state cabinet level and inform them she had used her gun to dispatch the rattler.

She was concerned because it was against state and college policy to have a firearm on campus at that time. The cabinet member was an old codger and listened to her and said you killed it with one shot, that’s good shooting lady! Then said lets call the newspaper and it will be a good story and she said sir, what I did was against state and school policy that won’t go over well in the newspapers. He said yeah you are right, but as far as I am concerned it’s over and that was good shooting little lady! Nothing came of it.

He’ll probably be fired for disturbing a wild animal.

“The driver should be commended for his “toxic masculinity”.”

Yeah, but now the wildlife and fisheries will be on his case for killing a living, breathing animal!

He is in deep doo-doo.

My lefty brother chastised me for killing a rattler by my front porch. I told him next time I would catch it, mail it to him and he could let it go.

The Special Delivery Instructions said: “Major problems here with porch pirates. Leave package next to guard snake.”

Rattlesnakes have a tough life. Because they often rattle when disturbed or threatened, they make it easy for humans to find and kill them. I read some research that most rattlesnakes in populated areas now have quieter rattles - the loud ones got wacked.

That’s a crime in TN.

Ridiculous. If I find a rattlesnake I’ll kill it. Screw our law.

I typically leave snakes be, and I have six acres of land in a woody, rolling, area west of Fort Worth, Texas, so I have plenty of them. When I bought this place a little over 2 years ago, I kept seeing copperheads near my front and side porches (while we were moving in). I saw a five-foot-long black rat snake in my well house. And I have seen various other non-venomous snakes around.

I have ten grandkids, seven of whom are under 10 years old. So, after settling in, I immediately started looking for the copperhead hive and found them under some old siding and materials the remodelers were going to come to get. I killed two grown males, two younger males, and two pregnant females. Since then, I have killed one additional copperhead that was hiding under my trash bin when I went to put out my trash on a Sunday evening.

If someone has an issue with that, that is their problem, not mine!

Well, a woman I love is named Ramona
She kind of looks like Tempest Storm
She dance like little Egypt
She works down at the snake farm
Snake farm, it just sounds nasty
Snake farm, well it pretty much is
Snake farm, it’s a reptile house
Snake farm, ugh.

Hat tip to Ray Wylie Hubbard. Song was written about an actual snake farm in New Braunfels, Texas. There was an episode of “Dirty Jobs” that featured the snake farm.
