As part of the initiative, the department will issue a hazard alert notifying employers and employees about ways to stay protected from extreme heat, which has killed 436 workers since 2011, according to federal statistics.Not good for the 436. But in the big picture that's an average of 36 per year in a population of 330 million.
Does this really need Federal intervention ?

When my sons were young lads, I happened to notice something different in their bedroom. I went in, sat on the side of the bed and chitchatted about this and that. Finally, I said I had a question for them. “Why is there a pair of underwear hanging from the ceiling fan?”
They exclaimed, “Dad! What are we going to do!!?? Mom’s going to kill us!!!”
It was an easy thing for me to retrieve the errant bloomers.

I don’t know what heat records anyone is talking about. For the las 10 days or so, in the piney woods of TX, we’ve been waking up to temps in 70s. Not 80s or 90s as is normal in July.
