I’ve been to Italy several times, and it was just as hot then.
The heat was hot and the ground was dry. But the air was full of sound.
Doity little boid, sittin’ on the coib, choipin’ and a boipin’ and eating doity oit woims!
My dad was there during the rainy season. Got trench foot during World War II. Penicillin saved him from being a double amputee.
Wasn’t all bad for my dad. He did get to see Mt. Vesuvius erupt in March of 1944 and sadly the bombing of Monte Casino. To be fair my dad said all the guys thought it was being used by German soldiers to fire on Allied troop.
Got to see Colosseum but didn’t leave Kilroy was here, etched into it.
