While that’s the last line included in the indictment, the audio recording obtained by CNN includes several additional lines from the conversation:
Trump: “It’s so cool. I mean, it’s so, look, her and I, and you probably almost didn’t believe me, but now you believe me.”
Writer: “No, I believed you.”
Trump: “It’s incredible, right?”
The case doesn't matter as I suspect this will be played over and over as damning evidence against former President Trump. He cannot undo it and we've seen that he never apologizes, never takes responsibility. We he behave differently here? Doubtful. He, like his supporters here in this thread, will attack the messenger. That won't win a single vote in 2024.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, they are definitely targeting Trump; no question. However, I don’t believe he did it so therefore I can is a legal defense that will stand in any court. Love the man as I do Desantis. We are in a position where we have two excellent leaders. However, sometimes Trump should just keep quiet about certain things. His bravado may and could be his downfall.

No, he doesn’t. Trump has bullied everyone into thinking that the Presidential Records Act allows a former President to keep GOVERNMENT documents that the National Archives don’t know about, or want back, when it actually says the exact opposite.
Trump supporters want to claim some personal NON-government audio tapes that Clinton was allowed to keep means that Trump can keep secret government documents, but it’s simply incorrect. Read the law itself, it’s not long and close to crystal clear. Clinton’s tapes were personal, these documents were government. If Trump is still hiding them he might get raided again, unfortunately.
None of this is new, it was already included in the indictment. About the only difference is that it takes away the argument from some of his supporters that it didn’t really exist or he didn’t really say it. But Trump’s lawyers should be back in front of the judge that issues the gag order asking for sanctions against the prosecution for leaking evidence.
First, these were self-admitted military documents, which are beyond the prevue of the presidential records act. Second, he says he didn’t declassify them. Third, he kept them, brags about it, and shows them off. Sorry, cling to supporting him if you want but I seriously doubt the American people—those not engaged in the election—will walk in and support him, vote for him. His core vote will linger but it will begin to wane. Trump is, yes I know we’ve heard this before and I’ve laughed at it before, but I do think this is beyond the pale and will kill his chances to win in 2024. It’s over, even if you and he don’t recognize it yet.
