Has Dingell ever read a bill that she voted for, especially those multi-thousand page monsters?
Good God! More like McCarthy's a friggin' Rino. This isn't his first rodeo. He's been in Congress since 2007 for cripes sake. Wake up!
Democrats know they never have to fight to the bitter end for anything, because it's assured that Republicans will cave...and they always do.
> Wake up! <
Seriously? You want to berate me because I was a bit nuanced there?
Perhaps it would be better if you and I just ignored each other in the future.
And I don’t mean that with any ill intent. Sometimes distance is a good thing for everyone involved.
That’s fine with me, but I don’t keep a list of people whose feelings get hurt.
Can’t e true. Trump supported McCarthy. Of course he supports big pharma, Disney groomers and planned parenthood .. so there is that.
> but I don’t keep a list of people whose feelings get hurt <
And neither do I. Folks here will often disagree with each other, and sometimes a bit too strongly. No surprise there. I think the old saying will apply: Time heals all wounds.
I hold no animosity towards you. I just prefer polite conversations over contentious ones. Perhaps we will agree with something in the future. I hope that will be the case.
This broad is nuts.
Instead of getting an $80 billion increase, the IRS is getting a $70 billion increase.
And 87,000 new agents to harass conservative Americans.
Oh Debbie is annoyed! Well... Eff off Dingell - is she the widow of John Dingell? . You (congress) wrote the tax code. If there are billionaires and corporations not paying their way that 's your fault (although I must once again that corporations do not pay taxes; they simply pass those costs to their customers).
If you’re looking for non-contentious conversations when it comes to politics, you’ll be waiting for a long time. It’s not like talking about flower arrangements, or party favors.

True that. It’s a volatile subject. I nevertheless try my best to be civil here. We Freepers might not be a band of brothers. But we all hold the same general views. So we are at least cousins. And cousins shouldn’t be snarky with each other.
I totally get that some folks might disagree with that. And I will give you the last word here. “The Office” will be on soon, and I try not to miss it. So I’m signing off for the day. Regards.
She knows. This is part of the scam. Most of the population will note question her because they know nothing about the facts.
Yeah and our side thinks we “won”.
I am annoyed because the debt limit deal doesn’t replace 87,000 new IRS agents with 87,000 immigration judges.
So basically we slowed down from 100 MPH to 90 MPH, but we’re still going over the cliff.
That's not really true. There are plenty of individuals on FR that have no concept of what has gone on in the Republican Party since George H. W. Bush was elected. They are novices to politics. They think just because Republicans have a majority in the House and/or Senate, that Republican-sponsored Bills will whiz right through. That hasn't been true for a very long time.
This time around they're blaming Trump for not getting anything through Congress while in office. In reality, there hasn't been a large enough majority of Republicans in the House or Senate that will work together to pass those Bills. Even with a slim Republican majority in the Senate, there are too many Rinos, and individuals like McConnell to stop needed legislation. And you can't get a Bill to the President's desk unless it passes both Houses. That's the tricky part. Trump vetoed 10 Bills while President. Obama vetoed 12. George W. Bush vetoed 12. Bill Clinton vetoed 37. George H.W. Bush vetoed 44. Trump, Obama and George H.W. Bush each had one veto overturned. Bill Clinton had 2, and George W. Bush had 4.
When was the last time that Congressional Republicans were successful in getting a good, clean Bill passed on the debt ceiling, or any of the other spending Bills? I don't remember it ever happening. They usually end up voting for Bills that Democrats have loaded with extra crap. Republicans put on a good show to fool their base while "negotiating", but in the end, they've always caved.
"And cousins shouldn’t be snarky with each other."
Just so you know, three of the four cousins I have are all dead...so are all my siblings. The only one worth being associated with, the only boy in the family, was a true Conservative but died before his 3 sisters. I've kept in touch with his widow. When I visited his two sisters years ago, their place smelled so badly of cat urine, your eyes watered the whole time you were there. It was like sniffing pure ammonia. I never went back to see them. Saw them both at their brother's funeral, and they have both since died. I have one cousin left who lives in Florida. She's a year younger than me, and a Democrat. The first time I saw her, or talked to her in over 60 years was at her brother's funeral. She's never contacted me since. And when my cousin's widow sent her a joke about Biden, she got offended, and broke off all contact with her. So no, I really don't have any cousins to not be snarky to.
That is why she is called “Debbie Dingellberry”, the queen of the anus mentally ill.
She believes government should take 100% from people and give it back to them through the Blackrock/DEI/ESG lens. They want a Utopian state of Marxism with all enslaved. Private jets for the bureaucrats and their cronies and you eat bugs. Ask Klaus.
In this economy, they should be cutting taxes.
