I’m building a downdraft gasifier primarily for making charcoal, but it should also work if I need to run an engine off of it.

Power shortages are to be expected when you shut down reliable fossil-fueled continuous duty electric generation and replace it with smaller amounts of intermittent “green” electricity that depends on the whims of nature.
