The KGB plied Duranty with booze and prostitutes and he would have written anything in return; this national disgrace was never remedied by destroying the Prize which itself means next to nothing anyway.You're right... Also, the fact so many 'journalists/newspapeers' write for prizes rather than for their readers has been a kiss of death for the industry.
