Viktor Yanukovich at last minute suspended the deal that was ready to be signed with the EU in 2013. He made a sudden U-Turn after massive pressure and meddling from Russia... As a result he scrapped the deal! A deal that a large majority of Ukrainians wanted !
So yes Viktor Yanukovich committed an act of pure TREASON against the Ukrainian people.

That's well within the prerogative of any chief executive, and in fact it was the Ukraine legislature which didn't approve the deal because of political demands made by the EU.
