It is just shocking that Trump said things that made weak snowflakes uncomfortable. Whodathunk it?
Here is my serious criticism of Trump. Trump does the Big Things on his own, and expects staff to be reasonably competent, adhere to a top-down hierarchy, and otherwise stay out of the way. He neither knows nor cares about the details of bureaucratic niceties, and certainly does not understand “government employees”.
He expected his upper tier staffers to fill out the middle and lower tier positions with loyal personnel who believed in his program. Aside from a handful of good people who served him well, Trump ended up with a mix of a) inexperienced flakes; b) sleazy adventurers out for themselves; c) politicians out for themselves or “institutions” like the DoJ; and, d) a lot of Washington big-government leftovers filling out the ranks. All these did everything possible to thwart his policies, to leak, to conspire, to tattle, to complain about bs. In part the bad staffing was due to Trump’s outsider status, in part because he underestimated the importance of staffers, and allowed bad actors (Priebus, Christie...) to “help” as a means of widening his political base. My hope is that if re-elected, Trump, well before the inauguration, will have people on board who can staff his administration with quality personnel so he doesn’t have to fight a fifth column.
