Republican Voters Across Pennsylvania Are Much Less Wedded to Trump Than You Think

DOYLESTOWN, Pennsylvania—Richard Tems was about as loyal a Trump supporter as you can get.

The Bucks County businessman and GOP committeeman has fiercely defended former President Donald Trump in editorials, interviews with reporters, and conversations with anyone within earshot. He voted for Trump twice and believed he was the right president at the right time.

However, eight years after the New York businessman and entertainer came down the escalator in Trump Tower in June 2015, Tems said he would move on in next year’s Pennsylvania primary. He plans to vote instead for Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., for the Republican nomination for president.

“Why? Well, because DeSantis has done a brilliant job in Florida. He took a tiny little victory the first time, and he turned that state dark red by implementing good conservative policies. He brought in the right kind of people, and he turned that state from being purple, or occasionally blue, to very red,” Tems said.

Tems said what Trump did brilliantly was recognize the public was unhappy with the governing class. But “DeSantis knows that to win, you have to build coalitions, and that is what he did,” Tems said. “He spent four years governing conservatively and building a coalition that not only gave him a win last November, it had coattails for all Republican candidates.”

By the time the dust cleared in Florida last year, there were no statewide elected Democrats left standing for the first time in modern politics. DeSantis won reelection over former Gov. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., by a whopping 19 percentage points, even carrying Democratic Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

Ryan said, “We probably likely lose the White House. We just did in ’20. So, I think we probably lose the White House with Trump.”

In 2020 Trump earned more popular votes than any Republican presidential candidate in United States history with 74.2 million popular votes. He also received more popular votes in 2016 than any other Republican. He out performed the 62.9 million votes he received in 2016 by 11 million.. Romney received 60.9 million in 2012. McCain received 59.9 million in 2008. George W. Bush received 62.0 million popular votes in 2004, and 50.4 million in 2000.

Biden ostensibly achieve 81.3 million votes in 2020. If Paul Ryan truly believes the 2020 election counts for both candidate were 100% accurate and not impacted by cheating, if Trump had not run for reelection in 2020, what Republican does Ryan believe could have earned enough votes to beat Biden? What Republican does Ryan believe can even beat Trumps 2020 74 million total in 2024 if Trump is not the nominee.

Does Ryan not realize that if Trump is cheated by the party establishment of the 2024 nomination, the conservative base will stay home and the establishment nominee (Pence, Haley, Pompeo, Hogan, etc) will receive far fewer popular votes than Trump did in 2000 or 2024? Ryan is either delusional or is already rooting for a Democrat winning in 2024 no matter who the Republicans nominate.

When Desantis announces he will be forever labelled a backstabbing climber.

Maybe there are still GOP voters left who care about winning the general election rather than making some emotional statement

Voting for prosperity is emotional as well as smart.

if Trump is cheated by the party establishment of the 2024 nomination

***********

If they hold the election in a normal process and not like in
2020 race then there should be no cheating the and the final
vote will be a true representation of the voters.

We endured the Cruz losers in ‘16. Same thing. Maybe worse. In Cruz’s defense it was unknown as to how Trump would govern. Desantis knows how great things were under Trump. DeSantis is DeJudas Fake-MAGA.

Sadly, that’s a very unlikely fantasy. We have to deal with the reality that not much has been done to fix the fraud machine.

Which POTUS was as successful as Trump? Look at what Trump accomplished:

  2. Inflation about 1.4%, mortgage rates were half of what they are now;
  3. Unemployment was low before Covid and before Blue Governors shut everything down and we were in the midst of a V-shape recovery until January 22, 2021;
  4. Tax decrease; tax laws promoted small businesses as well as large;
  5. US enjoyed energy independence - No Green Agenda, no war on energy, No Paris Treaty;
  6. No war in Ukraine, no threat of nuclear war, NATO paid its way;
  7. China was quiet and we were winning the trade war;
  8. US companies were bringing home the jobs due to well executed tax treatments;
  9. Peace in the Middle East aka Abraham Accords; US Embassy moved to Jerusalem; and Iran was isolated.
  10. Got three non-left “I don't know what a woman is” Supreme Court Justices on the bench allowing Roe vs Wade to be overturned.

Who the heck can accomplish the above in four years while being impeached twice and investigated by Obama's Weaponized Agencies?

Sad but true thus you live in the conditions that
is selected/used at that time. If gov’t members
aren’t changed then we have to deal reality at the
time of the election. Elections have been changed
vastly in the USA since 1492. They will keep that
up as the populace mix continues to change.

"For me I will relish watching DeSanctus go down in flames. F him. F all of you TDS freaks. Bring it. You started it with fluffing Ron Short Bus."

Wow. You really have flipped your lid. If you were standing in the same room as me you would not dare to speak like that.

That said, What brought that on? All I have done is speak rationally to you, and this is your idea of rational discourse? This is the same mindless nuttery one expects to see on DU. You really do need to detox before you have a stroke.

You're not just in the circular firing squad, this approach has you shooting yourself in the foot.

No, I don't worship at the alter of Trump, as you so obviously do. If that constitutes 'TDS' in your addled mind, so be it. I've never been big on fanaticism, or fanatics.

You TDSers give political head every day to DeoSanctus but somehow we are Trump worshippers? F off.

What part of Trump's first administration was not conservative and great?

Was it:

  1. Low inflation?
  2. Low unemployment, especially for blue collar work?
  3. Rising real wages?
  4. Standing up to China and tariffs?
  5. Building a wall and having the most secure border since the 1960s?
  6. Cheap gas, super high oil production?

That is an incomplete list but please tell us what is not conservative or great about any of those things?

"You TDSers give political head every day to DeoSanctus but somehow we are Trump worshippers? F off. "

I've have said several times over the last couple of weeks that I voted for Trump in both 2016 and 202, and would again in 2024. But somehow you see that as having 'Trump Derangment Syndrome'. Only someone who's off their rocker would come to that conclusion. Ergo, you're a cuckoo.

Like I said, take a break, and be more civil. Don't say things you'll regret later.

If you think you're going to win people over by raging like a deranged moonbat, you're sadly mistaken.

Trump is running in '24. Desantis will get crushed if he tries to go against Trump.

I predict that you will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.

Get used to the idea.

Where else are you going to go?

See what I mean? Are you even listening? Apparently not, so I'll say it once more:

If Trump is the nominee in 2024, I'll certainly pull the lever for him, like I did in 2016 and 2020. So I have no need to "get used to the idea", as you keep robotically repeating.

If Trump loses the primary, then it's DeSantis. Or Ramaswamy. Dont' even make me think about having to hold my nose and vote for Haley.

So, as you keep asking to the point of inanity, "Where else are you going to go?"

Answer: "Anywhere except the democrat."

What are you going to do if Trump isn't the nominee? Stay at home, pout, post some more rants that your skills can't cash, and end up with the Marxists in charge again?

Great plan.

Funny, I have the same impression about you. Although for some who's not listening, you sure seem to be spending a lot of time posting ranting rebuttals.

If you think you're doing Donald Trump a favor by behaving like an ill-mannered brat having a tantrum, you're kidding yourself. Your abusive approach not only hurt Trump's chances, but damages the cause of conservationism in general, as well as the integrity of this forum.
